omega drivers and morrowind

If you havent already, I reccomend downloading omega's drivers and setting them to quality. I recently did this and morrowind looks way better, it sets the level of detail for the textures to a level that is way higher than the highest setting in the drivers (both nvidia and ati) and also introduces some performance tweaks. The result I found from switching to omega drivers of the exact same version as the ones I was using was dramatically better image quality, while gaining a couple fps in performance.

The textures really jump out more, it's great. Morrowind itself seems to be the limiting factor in performance for most people so increasing quality settings really doesnt lower performance by much, if at all.

If you have a slower system, around the minimum requirements of morrowind, you can also set the drivers to performance, which will leave the image quality unchanged but introduce some tweaks that should give you better frame rates. I really reccomend setting them to quality otherwise, because you won't gain anything from performance with a fast machine already.

www.omegadrivers.net is the site. Try taking some screenshots before you install them if you want to compare.

actually it depends on what you mean by 'quality' settings. these settings break down into several other independent settings. the 2 options that most impact it (other than vsync) are aniso and AA. turning these off will increase your performance a good bit and only the discriminating eye can tell the difference between 2x and 16x... i have to run mine at 16 or else i get brain cramps from the jaggies :D

i've used the omega drivers before and they really didn't provide me with any better quality. they are mainly for overclocking (the OC program that comes with it is really easy to use and works with most cards).

honestly i've actually had more problems with the omegas than the atis. more lockups and such.

anyway... that's just my .02

Nvidia has some nasty image quality as it is, and I've never used omega's with an ATi card to see if they make a huge improvement, but it really does with Nvidia.

As far as AA and AF go with morrowind, I can max it out (only 4x and 8x respectively with my card) and there is absolutely no change in framerates in morrowind whatsoever.
