Automatically locking Old Topics

This is just a suggestion, though I don't know whether or not it's feasible. I think that any topic that has gone for more than a month without any posts should automatically lock by itself through programming of the site. Benefits of this would include moderators not having to deal with old topics that users have revived through thread necromancy merely because the topic would already be locked and no one could post on it. Thus, this could mean less work for the moderators and less strikes on the members.

If a user needed to post something related to the topic, just start a new one, since most users just ignore the older topics completely. Now however, I do understand not deleting locked topics due to the fact they often contain relevant info for the users. Nevertheless, it could be useful for the auto-locking topics for the reasons I stated. Just an idea...

This is really not feasible, as both of the file sites have a symbiotic link to the forums. Implementing this would lock all file/image threads and ratings and comments after as period of inactivity as you suggest.

It should also be noted that replying on a "dead" thread is not always considered "Thread Necromancy" such as actually adding useful / pertinent information rather than just SPAM'n the thread.

Example: Topic created about the release date of Duke Nukem Forever...months go by an nothing is discussed. You add your reply and note that the game is due to be released next Monday.

This is not considered Thread Necromancy because adding valuable information that others might be interested to know about is perfectly fine.
