I tried one, she's a lot of fun, but I found it necessary to give her a high melee skill as a back-up.

 

Now, has anyone noticed if people sitting down are immune to grenades? I once was sneaking through hamilton's hideout, saw the two raiders sitting at the table, threw a grenade right between them, only to find that they were unhurt!!

If they'd noticed you and were in the middle of standing, then they are pretty much untouchable. I've fired 5 rounds of 12-gauge buck... in full-auto... from 5ft away... at a raider who was getting up from a chair. He didn't even flinch until he was standing tall and pulling his G3 from his back. the 6th and 7th round removed excess bodyweight (in the form of limbs) and ended the fight.

 

Same thing happens when trying to pickpocket someone when they're leaning against a wall (Dave, in this case)... If they start to move, you can't pickpocket them until they are finished the animation and can walk normally. (and, in many cases, can see you again)

Mines are best used indoors. Grenades are best used outdoors.

 

not entirley true. I actually use Grendades a lot indoors. I like to make them richotette off of walls and slide inbetween the legs of enemies. Grenades are also silent when thrown. so if your into stealth and you need to make some noise to distract the enemy to sneak around them grenades are good way to go. Not to mention pulse grenades do extra damage to robots. many robots are inside buildings. Outside is a good place to practice grendades. and I also think grenades should never be used with VATs. its important to learn how to free throw it. so that way you can throw it the right way you want in the right direction and land it where you want it to. Then again I never liked VATs unless im doing a split second action like trying to shoot a raider inbetween tow bars or if I the circumstance has me where I would die if I missed.

 

and I use landmines outside sometimes. its useful when your a sniper. now lets say you decide to take a snipeing point. like the top of a destroyed building or something now if you shoot and miss enemies will go into caution mode. so they will look for you. its good to have land mines that cover your back so they cant reach you. or if your in Danger mode and there is melee units out there you can stay at your snipeing postion and shoot the shooters while the units with melee weapons will run into your mine traps. another good use for mines out doors is if your really running low on health and your up against something that uses Melee and is rather tough like for instance giant rad scorpion. If you run backwards face ing it and throw mines infront of you it will walk into the mines and blow itself up. this works for Yao guai and raiders as well.

 

so I find use for explosives everywhere
