imoonkin
I recently went back to playing skyrim and so i downloaded countless numbers of mods from both Nexus and Steamworkshop. At first there is no crashes at all, but then later on as my mods starts to pile up, freezes starting becoming common to the point of freezing every 5 or 10 minute so i decided it's time to uninstalling some of the mods that I don't use a lot. Despite uninstalling a lot of mods, the crashes still continue so i decided to post here and ask for help. i checked the forum for solutions and saw ppl suggesting using boss, TES edit so i downloaded them for now but i have no clue what to do. Tips and instruction on how to clean the mods are appreciated. Sometime i also got CTD when i load back an save. So here goes the mod list from BOSS Skyrim.esm ActiveUpdate.esm ActiveBash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Delev, Relev}}Contains dirty edits: 92 ITM, 3 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. Georgiegril
First off I'd suggest avoiding using the workshop for mods, for the simple reason that it will automatically update the workshop mods, and even delete them, based on the changes made by the workshop mod author. This can lead to game-breaking problems. Secondly, I would suggest you start a brand new game on a clean install-- or you can find out how to revert to vanilla from the Step Guide.Play through the opening sequence to the exit from Helgen without any mods or tweaks. (or with the alternate start mod, add only that mod to begin with) After exiting Helgen, start making one or two additions/changes to your game. Before adding any mod, read every word the mod author provides--description, readme, discussion page, everything. Pay attention to known conflicts and required files, and make decisions about whether to try the mod based on all of the available info and your own computer's resources. You may not be able to use some mods in a particular game, or with your computer. Run BOSS, read the BOSS log and address and messages (if it's a mod.) Play the game a bit to test for stability before making one or two more changes. Continue until you have the mods you want working together--then stop. The more you add/remove mods, update mods, etc. in a game, the greater the chance that you will introduce game-breaking problems. When you get bored of the character, or if you see a bunch of new mods that you are dying to try, start over from the part where you are reverting back to vanilla. Regarding your current BOSS list--the main error is telling you you have the wrong version of that mod installed, and you need to go back and get the correct one from the mod site. The best way to play unrecognized mods is to go back to the mod site and read where the mod author recommends the mod be placed, If that information is not provided, try putting unrecognized mods with similar mods. (like houses with houses). remember that since BOSS does not recognize the mod, it cannot tell you if there are other issues related to that mod (like conflicts, required master files, etc.) as it would with a recognized mod. So it is important that you have read exhaustively everything the mod author provides in hopes of having the mod work properly in your game. To reiterate, I think you will save a great deal of time and frustration if you start anew, without the workshop mods. But of course that is just my opinion. In the BOSS log you will see a link to the TESVEdit tutorial. You simply need to click that link to learn how (and when) to use that program. imoonkin
thanks for the tip, think i will just restart from vanilla again, i added too many mods without testing them so i have no clue which mods are causing the bloody freeze. Didn't knew i could revert to vanilla and all that.
imoonkin
So i reinstalled the whole game and follow a guide on youtube to clean the master files and rechecked my BOSS Log. Georgiegril
Right, you need not worry about the Bash tag suggestions unless you end up using Wrye Bash.
