tnu
Is this normal for a modded install of Skyrim? this seems quite large for a new game just being made. If anybody could point me in the right direction of if maybe certain mods are cuasignthis or if this is just normal it would be greatly appriciated. My laod order is thus. Georgiegril
6 MB is not large, it's quite normal for early in the game, and you should expect to get around 15 MB. However, "instability even with ini tweaks" suggests you are having problems--probably related to mods or said tweaks. Can you describe with more detail what problem you are having? Is it related to any particular action, place, time? Has it always been a problem, and if not, what changes in your game just before the problem appeared? Please replace your mod list with the BOSS log text file, and enclose in spoilers. If you are not using BOSS that could be the problem. You can get BOSS here. Its a regular program not a mod. Also please copy/paste your prefs.ini and ini files (enclosed in spoiler tags) Your game specs-- Game version, game settings, if you use the workshop or NMM for mods, or both, and how you launch. And your computer specs-- processor, RAM GPU, VRAM, graphics driver version. Crashes rather often, scripts don't seem to be working properly (Frostfall is reporitng heavy lag in the games scripting or something) saves becoming corrupt and causign crash on load errors, Please replace your mod list with the BOSS log text file, and enclose in spoilers. Georgiegril
If I understand you, you are using Windows with XP with integrated graphics, and you are using the lowest possible settings... Option 1: At the very least... The first thing I would do is remove the multi-threading forces in your ini files.I could be wrong, but I don't think they are going to be helpful with your hardware and OS, and they might be making your situation worse. Then I would make sure to use the native resolution for your monitor, not try to force another resolution through windowed mode (if that is what you are doing) Then I would disable the official hi-res textures. Your graphics card is below minimum specs, and even people with more powerful graphics cards sometime find they make the game laggy. Option 2: (My preferred option) But honestly...It seems like a lot of things you have done have been to address problems (like the threading tweaks and the save game cleaner)--but they may have just make the situation more complicated without actually helping.So...I would start an clean installation and a new game, with complete defaults. No hi-res textures, no mods (except alternate start, if you want to use it)Make sure to disable FXAA and AO. THEN,read carefully any mod or tweak you are considering. Look especially for low-res options.Add one or two at a time, run BOSS and play a bit for stability. If there is a problem, address it immediately. Do not continue adding things or playing until you are sure you are stable. Then add a couple more, repeat the process.I also would not use the workshop at all. Workshop mods will update (or be removed) without your permission, and that can break your game. Since you are trying to urge a stable game out of a below-specs system, I think you wil benefit from not having changes made without your knowledge and control. If you are trying to take some of the weight off your drivers, you might try forcing physx onto the CPU (You can do that in the NVidia CP PhysX area). May or may not help, though I think more likely to be useful when the GPU is much worse than the CPU. When making changes with the ini files, make sure to have a backup. Then I would look for ways to lower the game's resource requirements, rather than try to force more power out of your hardware. This is an old guide, but it does have some good info on tweaks for low-end systems and how they will effect your game. tnu
But...the high resolution pack IS disabled. Unless it requires mroe then disabling the ESPs to disable that perticulR MOD. aS FOR MY NATIVE RESOLUTION i'M NOT SURE WHAT THAT WOULD BE. i HAVE IT SET TO 800x600 because thats the easiest for me to see with my eyesight problemsAs for MultiThreaded Forces is that anything with "MultiThread" in the name? blitzen
I didn't think you could run Skyrim on that video card. But since you are running with 32-bit windows (I assume), make sure that you have enabled the 3 GB switch, or you are going to have game crashes from the 2 GB RAM limit. And get some monitoring tools, such as GPU-Z or Skyrim Monitor so that you don't have to guess if a resource is hitting a hard limit. You will know. Georgiegril
I'm sorry I missed the hi-res textures thing.Unfortunately your post is not all readable; that sometimes happens with the fast edit.Would you mind opening and then closing it again in the full editor? That should take care of it.
tnu
fixed it sorry I don't know how that happened. i'll take a look at the guide. oddly enough the video crd and maybe the OS are the only thigns that are really "low end" about my computer.but yeah I should have looked in to what those ini tweaks were for. Georgiegril
By multithreading, I meant the tweaks you added--the new lines related to multithreading. I don't recall any default ini lines that relate to multithreading, but there are a few other "multi" lines (like multisample) so you will want to look at the default in the data folder, just to be sure. The post formatting thing...not your fault, it's a glitch with the forum. It's happened to me a few times, that's how I knew how to fix it. Yes, your CPU seems quite nice. Sadly this game relies a lot more on the GPU. That was why I suggested seeing if forcing physx to your cpu might help.My card is not much newer than yours...I'm hoping for some cashflow sometime soon!
