Animation
So, I'm level 3, and I decided to go to the galaxy radio site. I finally paid Colin Moriarty his 100 caps and he gave me the info. So, I tried getting there and I found some Wharf. Then I found a War Memorial and got crazy radiation (8 rads a second) and quickly contracted rad sickness before I could run away. Then some raiders shot me from across the river ... a very LONG distance. I had just found a sniper rifle so I killed one across the water but ran out of ammo. I went a LONG way around by going down the river, crossing a bridge, and coming back. I finished the raiders. As I went to loot them, 3 super mutants started shooting me with perfect 100 precision from across the river, from the point I had been originally standing. Unlike the Raiders who seemed to shoot single shot sniper fire, these guys had automatic weapons that shot across the river and hit with sniper accuracy at HUGE range. I couldnt even see them on my screen (Perception 6) tho I could see red targets on my compass. They ripped me alive. I was almost dead just by running away from the river bank, and i had to run forever to get out of range ... and I was already 50-60 yards from them because of the river width at that point. I reloaded to the Wharf and went another direction. Do I really suck that bad? Am I stupid or something? Or at level 3, do they throw hordes of sniper autofire 100% accuracy super mutants at you any time you go even vaguely near galaxy radio or the war memorial? Help? And Thanks! jaosals42
Just know that Fallout 3, particularly in the beginning is a rather tough game. If it's a little too tough, you can always lower the difficulty setting. And, if the thought of receiving less XP from enemies that don't respawn bugs you, just know that there are mods here on Nexus that can change that. :)
Byzantinium
Didn't you listen to Sheriff Simms? "Don't bother going into DC, the place is a warzone" ;) You don't suck, you just wandered into a place that's meant for when you're at a higher level. If you still want to try going to GNR now, you should take the long way and go around the DC ruins.
Animation
Thanks for the replies. Sorry about posting potential spoilers. I personally never consider location names or foe types to be spoilers, so it did not occur to me to post the question in the spoilers section. I'll be more careful in the future. I have a friend who gets pissed if you tell him the next Star Wars movie has robots in it! *boggle* ... I should have figured somebody would get irritated knowing there are buildings and mutants in an post apocalyptic game. :) I guess I'll head west and wander randomly and hope it isnt as oppressively difficult! Thanks!

Thanks! Giving sarcasm to someone who replied to you and who simply and correctly suggested it should have been in spoilers is really not the best way to get help around here, so to answer your first question, yes you do. Animation
It wasnt sarcasm. It was a joke. It was also self-deprecating humor, featuring my lack of comprehension. I think on the internet where sarcasm is common and speech inflection is absent, it is all too easy to read sarcasm into it. I did thank the person for the advice about spoilers, and I did promise to be more careful.

I did thank the person for the advice about spoilers, and I did promise to be more careful. Well then thank you for the clarification. You officially no longer suck. ;) As for the spoilers, think of it this way, some people want all of the surprises, they want no heads-up, no pre-knowledge of what to expect. In that case, place names, foes, anything at all could spoil it for those people. To add to the answers given, do pay attention to what the NPCs are telling you. The DC ruins are meant for when you are higher level. Also, don't rush through the main quest. Unlike Oblivion, this game effectively ends once you complete the main quest (unless you get the mod to allow continuation). Cheers.
