Deleted1064519User Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 i have no idea why i have this issue. as i didn't have this before. but for some reason i can't use quotation marks in the skyrim console. does anyone know why this is? i've googled a lot and nobody seems to know anywhere why this problem occurs.
Georgiegril Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I can't think of a command that would need quotes. Usually people use quotes to indicate you need to type what is inside. What command are you trying to use?
AnkhAscendant Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Might be searching for a multi-word phrase, in which case that would be an issue. Afraid I can't help, though.
blitzen Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) I use quotes all the time, so you don't have to type *help shield* and get a zillion results. You can type *help "imperial shield"* instead. But I can't imagine why you can't use quotes. That's just bizarre. Is that key broken? Maybe there's a cookie crumb stuck underneath it. Try turning the keyboard upside down and shaking it or something. Edited May 28, 2013 by blitzen
Georgiegril Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 @ blitzen and ankh: Thanks for the explanation! Kinda sad that I got my question answered but the OP is still out of luck!
Deleted1064519User Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 that's too bad. no the key is working perfectly. it's just not recognised by skyrim for some reason. i indeed use this for the help command. it's really strange that i didn't have this issue before. and now i do.
Georgiegril Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 When I am out of options, I try the "verify cache files on steam" option. It's like wearing a rally cap, but for Skyrim. It shouldn't work, and it probably won't--except now and then it does.
Deleted1064519User Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) i'll try doing that. let's hope it works EDIT: it didn't work. it validated 1 file but it didn't solve the issue. i also saw another solution about disabling your ehome/IR device in device manager. which i don't have.the only thing that might be IR is the xbox 360 wireless receiver. but i don't get how it could be that that would be causing the problem. as i've been using the wireless receiver with skyrim since skyrim was released and the quote marks always worked flawlessly.
