Gary 23's Interrogation Log Important?

When I entered the outcast's hideout and found they wanted to use me as their lab rat after having degraded and belittled me for being a filthy wastelander mere seconds before asking me to help them, I couldn't help but wonder why I wasn't being forced to complete this simulation and that they didn't just take my pipboy themselves. Well when I unlocked the easy lock on the door next to the pod room and found Gary 23's corpse I began to understand why. Clearly they attempted to remove his Pip-boy and use it for themselves, and for whatever reason it didn't seem to work. So they needed a willing cooperative individual who had a functional pip-boy in order to get to the high-tech armory. I wasn't going to let Gary's death and them using me slide, so I played along with their little game until the armory was open....upon which I unleashed a fury of bullets and explosives the likes of which they'd probably never seen before (and never will see again). Then I was curious as to why Gary was there and if he had any other significance than just being random Gary 23. I then discovered he was part of a vault experiment of cloning, and he had become hostile and mentally unstable. I then came across a video of someone playing an interrogation log from Gary 23 that was in the game files but not in the actual game environment itself. I then felt terrible killing all of the outcasts in that base, because I was under the impression they were cold-hearted and careless monsters who would rip off your arm and take a machine that would better their initiative if they could. But upon listening to the log, I realized they tried to reason with him and get him to cooperate, even saying that they'd let him go if they would either help them or give up the pip-boy...but like I previously mentioned, Gary 23 (or any of the Garys for that matter) weren't in the right mindset to be capable of answering such questions or processing complex thoughts. So under (understandably so) an aggravated situation with a hostile and non-responsive Gary 23, he took the only valuable thing on him. That to me doesn't qualify as an egregious act of violence that deserves a massacre of outcasts, not even when coupled with the rough language and harsh treatment they give outsiders. I'm just curious if people who didn't know this interrogation log existed now hearing this for the first time feel differently towards the outcasts, or if it doesn't change your minds at all. And if you had already known about the existence of this log, had hearing about it for the first time whenever that was change your thoughts on them as well? Thanks for reading!

I only recently found the log, but I didn't listen to it. If you had let the scene play out, you would have saved yourself some ammo and explosives. The vanilla ending is very interesting.

When you say "the scene" what are you referring to?
