frankc
Let me take a wild guess here, that's because your an Elder Scrolls fan who never actually played the first two and bought Fallout 3 simply because it had Beth's name stamped on it? That would be me. I was still an rpg purist when Arena and Daggerfall came out - the whole notion of an action/rpg just plain pissed me off. So I never bought either of the first two, but Morrowind was so good I couldn't help but become a fan after a friend convinced me to give it a chance. I loved the idea of fallout - it looked like a cross of gamma world and paranoia, but the controls were so bad I never finished fallout1 and didn't even buy fallout2 till it hit the bargain bins and I was currently gameless. I bought fallout3 because of the Beth name, I knew they would put a good control scheme on a very cool setting. So I don't think there is anything at all wrong with buying a game because you know the developer will deliver what you are looking for. "Oblivion with guns" means a lot of fan expertise on modding the games can be transferred straight across.
