What are your thoughts on the Xbox One?

Alright, so if you didn't already know, Microsoft has recently revealed the Xbox One - the next gen console! But what are your thoughts on it? Do you think it'll take off or will it just be like Windows 8; made for old people.

This is a repeat post, but I'll answer anyway.

 

The Xbone has too many features. You can game, watch TV, or update Facebook or Twitter, etc. However, all these features drive the price way up, even though the hardware is very weak. My mid-range gaming rig (GTX 660 GC) already has better graphics than the Xbone. Furthermore, nobody will actually use the extra features of the Xbone, since most people already have other devices to watch TV and check their social media. If you want to tweet something, are you going to pull out your cell phone, or turn on your Xbone?

 

The PS4, and the PC, are superior gaming machines for similar prices. To get a PC equal to the Xbone, the average gamer could expect to spend about $800 at startup, but then less later when you upgrade the video card instead of buying a whole new system.

 

To wrap this all up in a nutshell:

PS4: Great value, good specs.

Xbox One: Poor value, draconian DRM, low specs.

PC: High quality gaming beast, decent price.
