DBKage
Hello All, I took control of my Oblivion file in order to install mods. Although I have done this procedure before, in this case I seem to have inadvertently done something incorrectly. As a result, I am unable to open or access the Oblivion folder (even as administrator). I would just change the permissions back on the file, but even that is unavailable to me. Has anyone else run into this?
Pellape
This is a long shot: You could add that drive into another computer if you have one available and try to take over the ownership of that folder that way. Another way my be to start your computer with Hirens Bootdisk and try to take over the ownership that way. It is possible to add it to an USB Also put this question in a Windows/Microsoft forum. DBKage
Thank you for the spending the time to respond. Although I am not sure on the root cause here, I imagine it was some challenge associated with Microsoft protections of Xbox GamePass PC files and modding. I was able to regain access to the folders by booting in Safe Mode and then re-enabling inheritance on the folder permissions. The permissions to me looked like they should have been fine before I took this step, but that is how I was able to regain access. I wanted to come back and post this solution for those that my find this thread in the future.
Pellape
Thats a very good solution really and similar to the what the Hirenz Boot CD really are doing but not needed if fail safe mode works. I did forgot about that completely.
