FriarChris
Update, problem resolved: The FPS limiter in the ENB configuration appears not to work; my FPS was racing away above 90 at all times (!) and I think the problem was the rendering ahead wasn't fast enough for this - as soon as I manually limited the FPS to 35 with an actual, my game is running both amazingly smoothly and entirely stutter-free. Original Post (Resolved): I recently re-installed Skyrim after an accident that uninstalled Steam some time ago, to find my performance lacking. What I do recall is that, when I used to play Skyrim, I had my GTX 560 Ti running on an 822MHz core clock - as per original specification as this prevented early Battlefield 3 crashes related to the card - but my card is actually factory overclocked to 900MHz normally. So, I crank my core clock back down to 822MHz, and lo and behold - my game runs smooth as a whistle on ultra graphics again, with ENB, HD textures, Parallax and the like. But now I have a new problem - I get lots of little stutters on a very regular basis, which are both audio and graphical: there is just a momentary stickiness of the graphics, but the audio makes a brief noise much like you get when you get a BSOD (the rapid 'BRRR' sound, almost like talking through a fan); or else background noises cut out momentarily then come back. Some strange physics bugs also seem to occur; accidentally jumping onto the roof of the building next to me, playing of water splash sounds even though I'm not in the water... This seems peculiar to me, to be honest, as I immediately thought - do I have some damage to the card? Well I can't find any evidence of it; it's never overheated on record and it performs completely smoothly at all other times and in all other games (including Battlefield 3 on high/ultra with injection), and indeed down-clocking to its native speed has vastly improved the general performance in Skyrim. Unless I have some horrific hardware problem, has anyone got any ideas for trying to troubleshoot and resolve this? I read much about stutter fixes, vsync and all sorts, but can't find anything definitive. Given just how smoothly my game runs with it downclocked, it seems utterly peculiar to me that it should then cause stutters given that the graphics side of things seems to be performing so much better... I'm running Project ENB and have tried putting the FPS limitation on, doesn't seem to have helped.
