ZeroSbr1
Alright, so unfortunately my problem with random CTDs was never solved. I'm making this new topic because I guess people are starting to skip over the old one because it has 5 posts. I don't know if Eldergleam Sanctuary still gives me CTDs, but now (and this is consistent) I get CTDs whenever I attempt to use the grindstone. Here's my Load Order as of Wrye Bash and I will attach my BOSS log as well. ZeroSbr1
Well, nothing I've tried so far has worked with fixing grindstone CTDs. I notice that they only happen when I use a custom race, though I can't figure out why. Would someone PLEASE help me, because as it is Skyrim is literally unplayable right now. Thanks. ZeroSbr1
So I've even tried other custom races, and they still make the game crash when I use the grindstone. Given my load order and my BOSS report, could anyone help me figure out what is causing this please?
prod80
Hi again,It's not possible to say from a distance about where this issue comes from. It's something you can find out. I dont see any mod in there related to grindstones I think, or any mod that I know causes problems. You'll have to narrow this down. Start by disabling all your mods and texture replacers, taking only the unofficial patches and you custom race. Start a new game, try and use a grindstone. If that works start adding mods in your current load order starting by group, example; activate all your weapon mods. Load a new game again, back to grindstone... if that works activate the next group, like all your armor mods, again same thing, new game -> grindstone. This until you get CTD when activating the last group. Now go the other way around... keep the last group active and deactivate the first group, new game, etc... this until you have the 2 groups conflicting somewhere. Then start the whole thing again by keeping 1 group active and add just a single mod of the 2nd group each time, until crash then keet that single mod active and activate just a single mod of the 1st group until you found the mod(s) causing the CTD. To make this whole thing faster and not having to go through the opening scene constanly start new game and open console "~" type:coc Riverwoodshowracemenu Pick your custom race, press "R" to become unbound. This is basically the only way to figure out which mod causes this. Maybe even your custom race is broken and you get CTD on your first go, maybe you dont get CTD at all at the end and it's just your save game which is broken. It's impossible to tell. You can also search the issue (if mod related) in the CK or such, but that will most likely cost you a lot more time than sorting out the mod that causes it. ZeroSbr1
Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think of doing that before. Stupid me. Thanks for replying though, I'll try that and give you an update.
prod80
I know it's not a solution you like to hear, it's a big pain to figure out where stuff comes from... especially annoying when it causes CTD :\ Nobody knows by heart how mods react to eachother because for that you have to look into those specific mods. The only thing you can do is figure out which mods and send a message to both authors about it and let them sort it out (unless you know how to fix it yourself, then just report and forget). I currently also have 4 issues in my game that I know of;-Missing LOD on a snowy rock outside whiterun-Flying Tree outside whiterun (funny tho)-Missing LOD on a mossy rock outside Dragonbridge-My character seems to hover above the ground by about 10-15cm in 3rd person view Since they don't break my game or CTD, and I hardly use 3rd person (if ever) they dont really have my priority... but figuring out why this happens will be a pain in the ...... I have so many replacement textures, meshes, etc... a lot of manual installs too to spice stuff up. :\
ZeroSbr1
Well, for me there's this major problem, male neck seams, and lights are too dim at night. There doesn't seem to be a real fix for neck seams for males, as everywhere I look the solution seems to be "hurr durr just keep screwing around with texture replacers", and the dim lights I'll just have to deal with. As far as your character hovering above the ground, I think it could be an animation problem. Maybe your idle replacer (assuming you use one) is incompatible with other custom animations you have installed?
prod80
yea I know it's somewhere between FNIS, xp32, realistic force & my custom-customized race - but it will take a LOT of time to figure out exactly where ... recreating the female animation files didn't work  doesn't bother me much... I'm not much of a screenshot kinda guy and I hardly use 3rd person (so I don't really know why I spend 1-2 or so days creating my characters - I guess I like messing around with them without reward as there are no mirrors in Skyrim) As for your problems... neck seams, on NPC or yourself? that should be because of your meshes or a mismatch between your weight setting from a mod and from your master files on an already started game before the mod was added. If it's NPC you can mostly correct it if you know the right value using setnpcweight, disable, enable commands - or it can be this is because someone changed the default NPC weights in a mod, and this will work correctly only when starting a new game. Texture replacers alone will not do anything, you need the meshes as well. Lights too dim at night? are you using ENB by any chance, and are we talking interior or exterior light... which lighting mod you have?
prod80
Oh, lol... you use Climates of Tamriel... Now I see... Night level 5... From night level 4 onwards that plugin will start to Dim exterior lights. So use level 4 or 3,2,1. If that is too bright for you then you need to look into other means to reduce light. If you want you can try my settings, but it's using RLO and an ENB, together with CoT and nights lvl 4. It's pretty dark but still has visibility (barely) when moon/stars are out... lost in the forrest, and you're screwed with wolves chewing on your feet :p
ZeroSbr1
Thanks for the CoT tip. The necks seams are on both myself and male NPCs. I have all the appropriate textures/meshes installed, yet I get a seam anyways. I really don't think I'll ever figure that one out to be honest. And I found the conflict! PCEA seems to have a bug in it, so I'll just tell the author and use an old version for now.
