Time to ditch vanilla - Looking for some recommendations

Hey guys,

I've logged about 100 hours on Skyrim, I've nearly finished all of the main quests/guilds etc

Played it almost 100% vanilla other than graphics/UI mods.

I started trying to select some mods that I'd like to install but there are just so many, so I was hoping you guys might give me a few recommendations on mods you've enjoyed/approve of.

I'm looking for mods that add lore-friendly content, without breaking the immersion. Things like weapon/armour packs, quests, monsters, items, buildings etc etc.

Cheers. ^_^

If you want a small fortified player abode, I heartily recommend my own Grayhill Keep. It's very lore friendly. When you first discover it in-game it appears derelict. After purchasing the deed however the Keep is restored to full working order. It also features a bard npc and guard followers.

If you want a manor, I'd recommend downloading the legend of eagle's nest. Or Cascades. Both were made by Flahoshi, who is pretty much a GOD where interior design is concerned. I really look up to him.

For armor I recommend downloading just about everything from FranklinZunge. He's made a lot of ridiculous conan the barbarian style armors look much more believable.

I also recommend Witcher 2 Style Dawnguard and Standard Heavy Plate by LordBaraban. Pretty much the best knight style armor in the game IMHO. Then there's the Skyforge shields, Dragonbone Ebonsteel and Skyforge weapons by the very talented Dreogan. Must haves, those three. Aesir and Einerjar are also brilliant nordic armors that are definitely worth checking out. Trollsbane armor is also terrific. I could go on for a little while longer about armor mods. There's a pretty darn good selection by now.

For quest mods, definitely try out Moonpath to Elsweyr. It provides a stunning journey!

Hi, here's a list of immersive mods that I think look good and their associated mod number (they might not necessarily work together, I don't have a PC to try them out)(some of them require SKSE and SkyUI):

Boethiah for Good Guys #22818

----Allows more choice for all character types

Craftable Placeable Bedrolls #19943

----Allows you to sleep mostly everywhere

Dance of Death #10906

----Control your killmoves frequency

Dawnguard Delayed Start #26022

----No more forced start if you pass by a guard

Frostfall #11163

----The most amazing mod you will currently find

House of Horrors Alternate Ending #21700

----Allows more choice for all character types

The Choice is Yours Fewer Forced Quests #26359

----Less forced quests

The Paarthurnax Dilemma #18465

----Allows more choice

Thieves Guild Requirements #14157

----Have to be a thief before Brynjolf annoys you

Trade and Barter #34612

----Customized pricing

Wearable Lanterns #17416

----Wear a lantern on your belt, great for combat in dark places

Winter is Coming Cloaks #13486

----Good combo with Frostfall, adds fur capes to game

This isn't even my final list of mods, just a few gems I thought I'd mention. Hope this helped.

Do you know what you want changed? The game easier, or harder, or just more beautiful? As a user of over 255 mods, I can recommend mods for most occasions, but I got each group for very different reasons.

If you like playing werewolves, for example, I'd suggest Tales of Moonlight, Bloodmoon Rising, and Heart of the Beast. If you wanted realism, I'd suggest Frostfall and Realistic Needs and Diseases.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Nudedragon, I'm looking for mods that add more content to the game. More things to do, see, kill and collect.

However, I would be interested in making the game a bit harder, I maxed smithing/enchanting early and I just basically one shot everything.
