Last Ditch Effort (Help with Load Order + Other Issues)

Well, I broke the cardinal rule: install/uninstall mods one at a time and test before proceding to the next.

Anyway, here's the problem: Interiors work and load up no problem; as soon as I try to load exterior cells, the game ctd, meaning anytime I try to go outside the game crashes.

Before this problem occurred I uninstalled Project Beauty, so I reinstalled it. Didn't work.

Before this problem occurred I cleaned Unofficial Fallout 3 Broken Steel patch. Reinstalled it. Didn't work.

After this problem started occurring, I "verified integrity of game cache". Said 60 files were missing and replaced. Still doesn't work.

I had heavily tweaked .ini files which were both set to default after verifying integrity of game cache. Other than ugids I didn't try to redo it all. Can't imagine this being the problem, because...

When I try to start a new game, I got the same problem... can start a new character but as soon as it's time to head outside... ctd.

I will post my crazy load order for anyone with the patience to go through it. When I run FO3 edit it does not prompt me that I have any errors/conflicts.

Any help would be much appreciated, and just to eliminate any suggestions about hardware:

OS: Windows 7

CPU: i5 2500K

GPU: GeForce GTX Titan

RAM: 16gb

PSU: 650W

You say that FO3Edit does not show any conflicts. You are not using FO3Edit correctly. You need to get the training manual and read it to understand what you are doing and how to properly make a merged patch. http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/8629 FO3 Wanderers Edition alone will show hundreds of conflicts as it changes so much of the game.

TSC Expansion.esm needs to be placed with the other .esm.

Hey M48A5,

Thank you for the FO3 edit tutorial... spent a couple hours looking over it tonight. Very well put together and tons of info.

TSC Expansion.esm normally is with the other .esm's in load order, but I was missing the Enclave Commander mod for it to work anyway. I took it out for now.

I've always made new merge patches without a problem.

I'm almost feeling like this is a texture mod issue at this point, considering that in Megaton there is a huge Slimer green square surrounding the bomb that goes well beyond the radiation puddle and in my underground hideout I can see the water outside near Rivet City... a big rectangular piece of water.

If I could compare it to anything it would be like having Archive Invalidation off, which I use through the mod manager, and have tried toggling on/off. No success.

It looks like I would need some more time to go through the sea of red background/red text mods I have. I guess that I'm unconvinced that this exterior cell crash is related in the sense that I've had all these mods in for a while. Why would it crash like this now?

Still, I'm very thankful for that guide and will be using it if I can get back in the wasteland exterior.

Could verifying integrity of game cache have messed this up?

One thing that I've noticed that strikes me funny is after I did that I noticed my Fallout 3 - HD Overhaul wasn't working and the default FO3 music was playing at the menu screen. After reinstalling it I overwrote different files and got it working again.

Just weird... I didn't mess with that mod at all.

One more thing is I've tried the FO3MasterUpdate and subsequently MasterRestore after reading a lot of people saying that it's not a good idea to flag all your mods as .esm's. That tutorial and your statement seems to contest that. Good to know.

But anyway, first things first, gotta figure out why I can't go out in exterior cells anymore. Maybe try reinstalling NMC's texture pack?

Or do you think reverting back to default .ini's from heavily modded ones could make this happen? I'm trying to rule out these as possibilities.

I unchecked all my mods just to see the capital wasteland, and that worked, so it's definitely mod related somehow.

What would you or anyone else for that matter start sniffing out first?
