The way you are doing it, you will get the name of the base object. Thane weapons get their name from the quest alias that they are assigned to. At least the default thane weapons are done that way. How to get the name from there? No idea.

 

Perhaps, you could find a mod that replaces the thane weapons with unique weapons rather than using the renamed generic weapon variants. And then, require your users to use that mod else that feature won't work properly for those weapons.
