Ozisl
Heya, There seems to be a fair amount of mods for East Asian weapons and armor, but one thing is pretty conspicuously missing - a bo staff. Which is kinda stunning, since there are so many staff/stave models ingame for magic users. The problem, I understand, would be animation, since using a staff requires a lot of body movement and inertia (in other words, I don't think I've seen one well done in a similar game). An alternate/starting place may be two batons. Both the staff and batons could be a hybrid offense/defense, with more of a parry rating than other weapons, but less outright damage, the staff being slower but heavier (maybe with a knockdown or something you would see from a heavy weapon)... I think EQ2 came close, but that is full RPG, not action (no blocking etc) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Nbm-d3LuCg Thoughts?
Taejang007
You literally took the words off my keyboard. I refreshed the page after logging in on a different tab, reached to the "New Post" button, and saw this just before I clicked on it. There are some pretty decent looking quarter staves in Jaysus' weapon mod. But the animations have them swinging like baseball bats. Probably based on two-handed axes or something. Looks absolutely terrible. So terrible I literally won't use them; instead, I collect them in all the variants, stick them in weapon displays, and gaze at them longingly. I agree, the animations would be very difficult to do. But can you imagine the satisfaction? I cannot. It would be too epic to fathom. Battle staves, swinging, whirling, and crashing heads. Bladed staves slicing and dicing like a Jedi moving through clonetroopers. Oh animators, please try and accomplish this!
