AdventureGirl
Hi, all. So, I took a very long break from Skyrim--namely due to college and life in general. But...I'm back now! Since I basically forgot how to play (and what I was even doing), I started the game over. :whistling: I'm only level 5 in Skyrim so far; I've just joined the Companions guild, have to go meet the Grey Beards, and about to pick a side for the civil war, just so you guys have a general idea of where I'm at. I'm planning on getting all of the DLC's, but I'm not sure how to incorporate them since I'm starting new? I heard that I believe Dawnguard shouldn't be played until at least level 10, and Dragonborn at 40+ ? Any and all thoughts and tips are appreciated! It's good to be back.
IsharaMeradin
I don't know about Dragonborn as I don't have it. As far as Dawnguard you could include that from the very beginning. You aren't informed of anything about it till level 8 and by level 10 you are told directly about and given the initial quest. You can however play it at any time after that. In fact part of the DG quest line coincides with part of the main quest line (don't worry you've not gotten that far yet) so you can always hold off till then or switch back and forth. There is also the possibility of having access to DG added areas as randomly assigned quest areas and some random encounters that can take place before you are made aware of the entire DG quest line. So there are some good points to having DG active from the beginning. Save game wise there could be some things that may go haywire by adding DG in to an existing game. There were a few changes to the base game. My opinion it would be best to start over once you've gotten the DLCs.
voidgenesis
I am in the same boat, but I am incorporating a number of extra quest and gameplay mods, including the amazing vilja follower mod (best one I have seen). I am trying to take my time and not grind skills or rush stories this time around, so I am planning take each day at a time. I was going to do the civil war first, but other quests have gotten in the way. That is the best thing about skyrim- it allows you to really get into your characters emerging story and respond to opportunities as they arise. I will get involved in the dawnguard and dragonborn stories when it seems reasonable to want to do so.
