Cormiick
So I just got into Fallout 3 modding, and I have all of my mods installed already. I think I have a half-way decent load order, but I need BOSS to help me out and see if there are any problems with it. However, every time I try and use BOSS for Fallout 3 it gives me an error message saying "Fallout3.esm cannot be found". I've used BOSS for both Skyrim and Oblivion with no problems at all, so I'm a bit confused. I've tried opening "BOSS GUI.exe" instead, and in the list of games it says "Fallout 3" is recognized as installed. What I think could be causing this issue is that I recently changed my Fallout 3 directory from Local Disk (C:)/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3 to Local Disk (C:)/Games/Fallout 3 So maybe BOSS doesn't recognize that this is the new destination folder? I'm not really sure. I just know that Fallout 3 is recognized as installed, and I know my game is working correctly.
M48A5
Did you move Fallout 3 or uninstall and reinstall? BOSS locates your game using the registry entry. If you just moved the game, BOSS is looking in C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3 for the .exe. There are a couple of ways to correct this. One is to edit the registry entry to point to C:/Games/Fallout 3. The other is to completely uninstall all traces of Fallout 3, clean the registry and reinstall the game. Cormiick
That's strange. I did the exact same thing with Skyrim, and BOSS hasn't given me any problems with that. Wonder why it's just Fallout. Anyway, how do I edit the registry entry? Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob at this. EDIT: After some Google searching I figured it out. I just typed "REGEDIT" into the search box in the start menu. Then I navigated to "Fallout 3", and simply modified the install directory, just like you said. Thanks!
