Thank you for the extensive response. I find that I seem a bit more educated after reading any of your posts.

 

To a fair extent, I see a similarity to learning second-, third-languages. To those that were born to a language, it usually seems rather simple to learn their language. But to someone that has NOT already been extensively versed in that language, simple phrases -- to a native -- can bring on migraines. In short, "It's easy -- once you _already_ know how." There's probably a fair amount of, "Well, if _I_ understand it, how hard can it be?" The recurring impression that I get from the modders here is that they really don't understand what they are requiring of non-modders. It is literally on a par with learning an entirely alien language -- that the modders already know. But more importantly, there seem to be an assumption that "simple" things _should_ be self-evident, even to non-modders. Like your reference to the armour mesh: I know what armour is, and I know what a mesh is, but an "armour mesh"? Haven't a clue.

 

I'm starting to think that these thousands of mods should have rating labels, like "M for Modder" requires you to know how to make a mod yourself to be able to smoothly integrate it into your game. (That was a joke, btw.) [Well, mostly a joke.]

i dont know why you wont test my inis .. i had the exact same problem at riverwood. i use the HD 2k texture + many many mods ... graphic mods lod mods, sound mods, meshes mods, distance overhaul etc... and so on. you wont regret if you use them, configure the graphic part to your needs and let the distance part how it is. as i said, you hardly wont see a difference between a ultra config and this one.

 

its the f***ing skyrim engine thats blowing ! this engine is not set for a modded and especially graphically moddet skyrim. for textures that are more demanding than the vanilla or the original HD texture pack textures. if you dont hit a certain ratio between loading textures in advance and quality in distance and distancemultisplit it will crash. i testet all this for 3 month now and this inis are my result. i dont get a ctd now at riverwood and around anymore indifferent if i travel from whiterum to falkenrath or the other way round.... the area around lakeview manor, all thre were ctds. they happened aperently random and at some exact same spots but it was alwys engine related which couldnt handle the high textures at this level of distance and ... you know waht i mean.

Am I supposed to alter EVERY line of my .ini to match yours? Including the sLanguage=German line. Right there, I'm looking at something that obviously doesn't apply to my rig. Then it's quite obvious that _you_ understand what you're describing, but I haven't a clue what you're talking about. For example,

u can try theese ini settings, 1) except the grafical issues ... like shadow qualitiy or texture quality...2) all other settings especially the lod and distance settings are essential for a CTD free and freeze free gameplay. nevertheless there are some stutters left (5% of the outside locations) but in general 3) its increasing fps by nearly no visual decrease. 4) i use this inis with hd textures 2048K and mods like distance overhaul, 5) high quality lods, distant detail, 6) and decal fix,... and so on.

1)_What_ are the graphical issues, and which lines determine shadow or texture quality?

2) What are "lods"? And where are the distance settings?

3) What does that mean? Increasing frames-per-second by nearly no visual decrease? I'm _guessing_ that if you up your fps, you usually must sacrifice the sharpness (resolution) of graphics, but how do _textures_ relate?

4) What does "HD textures 2048K" _mean_? HD = "High Definition", but what makes a texture 2048K rather than some other number? Is that the amount of dedicated video RAM, just for textures? _I_ don't know.

5) Again, what are "lods"?

6) What's a "decal fix"?

I somehow get the feeling that if you gave me explanations of what all these things are and what they mean, it would generate more questions than were originally being answered.

Really, it's like trying to comprehend a totally foreign language. I'm expecting someone to raise his voice and very s_l_o_w_l_y enunciating, "Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth (fingertips in this case)?"

I'm _seriously_ looking forward to the publication of Modding For Dummies.

go to your skyrim launcher and set the graphic settings as u like or as u pefer it to play mostly fluid.. (30+ fps)

Those 'tweaks' do not improve game stability in any way. Please stop spamming other people's support thread with unrelated posts.

 

@CaptainPatch

Needless to say, unless you have a below requirement system spec (and you don't) and need to make performance tweaks just to sustain playable framerates, don't edit the default game ini settings except to enable non-performance related settings like papyrus logging or increasing autosave count, especially not when you are troubleshooting the load order to try and stabilize the game.

@b2kcommander -- looking at the numbers you've displayed: You _do_ realize that large numbers have commas every THREE digits, right? Example

Looking at the numbers you posted -- "5500,0000", "2,0000", etc. -- makes me think that if I entered your numbers _exactly_, (like if I did a copy-and-paste) it would seriously foul things up, usually by a factor of 10 or more. Or worse, having the comma in the wrong place may just lock things up and stop the initialization. Those are risks I'm not willing to take unless I am confident that the adviser KNOWS what he is advising. That's something I can't feel confident about when I see what appear to be glaring errors like "2,0000" and have to wonder, "Did he mean '2,000' or '20,000'?"

 

I'm pleased that your .ini works so well for you, but I can't imagine that the same config works for EVERY PC. And given that you never even inquired what my system specs are, how could you be certain that your .ini works perfectly for a system that you know nothing about?

in the inis its used to be a . not a , give the wohle a try or let it be. its on you. i have a fx6300 @ 4,8ghz, 8 gb ram, 7870 xt @1200,1600 if ur rig is at least a Q9900 with some 1gb hd 5000 or gtx 400 series ist sholud be fine.

 

5500.000 are the same as 5500 without .000 :wink:

 

backup ur old inis if u want to be on the sure side

Just curious about the format: Why would it be necessary to show several zeroes after the decimal point? After all, as you say, 5500.000 is the same as 5500... which pretty much makes the decimal point and those extra zeroes entirely superfluous. I would imagine that unless there is some _need_ to put something in, any competent programmer would leave the superfluous stuff out, just as a matter of course.

 

OT -- Finally had enough time to start trying to Plug 'n' Play different mods to see which causes the CTD. I started by turning off AP Skyrim (Animated Prostitution) to hopefully stop the aaSex notations. [As far as I know, AP Skyrim is my only mod that addresses sexuality, as opposed to just gender differences.) I also turned off Essential Followers and Specialized Followers to hopefully stop the Follwer_Alias warnings. The new Papyrus log now ends with

Understandably, there were bunches of calls for files no longer active. And also not surprisingly (given that CTD is just 24 seconds from Load point), the game still CTDs. But I'm wondering why Papyrus is still obsessing about things like "Cannot open store for class "aaSexPlayerMastyOnBedScript"," Am I going to have to fully Uninstall some of these mods?

If enabling SKSE's ClR function and then playing for a few hours has not helped to clean your save game for those orphan script data, then you would need to start a new game.

 

The other thing I forgot to mention is that don't obsess about the Papyrus log (it will drive you nuts). Most of the messages are harmless debug messages. For example, those 'errors' immediately following 'Convenient Horses' in the log is just a CH script scanning you game to see if you have CH supported mods installed. This is one of the rare times where the Papyrus log has yielded something useful in tracking down the possible culprit for persistent CTDs (orphan script data from the 'sex mod' you uninstalled).
