CateLove
I tried installing some mods using the Vortex manager, installed a few ones only, after fiddling with them for a while it ran fine, played for hours no issues that I could see, but suddenly just a few hours later I started the game loaded last save and no matter what I do it crashes when I try to save or when it tries to autosave. The thing is I didn't change anything, nor installed any new mods since the last time I played, Vortex didn't notify me of anything prior. Tried disabling the mods, reinstalling the same ones in the same order, did what the manager recommended, but it just refuses to save and crashes to desktop. Any ideas? M48A5
You need to provide more information before anyone can help you. Please see the article "How to ask for help" https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/How_to_ask_for_help and post all the information noted there including any and all mods that are in the game but not shown in the load order. CateLove
I'm playing Fallout 3 GOTY GOG, on an Intel 5 9400F Windows 10 Education Edition.Using Vortex Manager with the mods:nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/16071nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17424nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24289nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8570nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24673nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/23306nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6394optional:T6M Female Power Armor Replace DLC FWE as part of T6M equipment replacer. More information after I tried troubleshooting myself: So I tried starting the game vanilla, using its launcher or exe, it crashes even before loading into the game.Decided to uninstall and delete all the mod archives using the mod manager, then loaded into the game saves work fine vanilla warning me it is going to be missing files that are no longer present. Then saved, works fine it seemed, deleted most of the saves and kept a few that looked safe, tried downloading and installing and deploying all the same mods like the last time, it didn't seem to recognize some saves, so loaded one that worked, everything looked fine, saved no problem around Megaton, decided to go do a quest, the same quest where it stopped working last time (Wasteland survival guide mine quest), doesn't really matter, saves don't work and it begins crashing again, it seem the game breaks after I start roaming the Wasteland no matter what I do, vanilla seems to break again as well mods or no mods, disabling one mod after the other and loading saves still nothing. Its really weird. Have half a mind to reinstall the whole game and mods again, its really annoying. here is LOOT load order: 0 0 Fallout3.esm 1 1 Anchorage.esm 2 2 ThePitt.esm 3 3 BrokenSteel.esm 4 4 PointLookout.esm 5 5 Zeta.esm 6 6 BnB special armors.esm 7 7 CrossModData.esm 8 8 Animy_prostitution.esm 9 9 Overhead3PCamera.esp 10 a MiniHideout.esp 11 b BnB special armors.esp 12 c T6_Sexy_outfits.esp Edited June 23, 2021 by CateLove
M48A5
What video card are you using? What is the installed path to the game? What do you have installed that is not shown on the load list? Did you make the change in the Fallout3 .ini, that is located in My Games (not the .ini in the game folder where the .exe is located), to limit the CPU cores to 2 cores? GPU is a GT1030. The Install path is the default GOG one on C:\GOG Games, and I posted all the mods I used with links, that's all.No, I didn't edit anything in any ini myself, since I was told the GOG version is all set up and patched and mod ready. However I believe this is probably a mod issue, since it worked fine before I tried the mods, I explored a bit further even then the current point before the mods and it saved fine. M48A5
Fallout 3 does not work well with multi-core processors. The .ini file that must be edited is not created until the game has been loaded. You need to locate the Fallout3.ini that is located in "My Games" and make the following edits:Find this line: bUseThreadedAI=1. Immediately below it add: iNumHWThreads=2. Save and exit. This will limit the use of the CPU to 2 threads.

Besides that I doubt its a processor issue, I would have seen issues from the start not after I moded it. It runs great, it just breaks when trying to save. CateLove
Well I think I fixed it myself, after spending some more time troubleshooting I traced the problem to the mod Mini Hideout I should have read more pages of the posts in the mod since apparently it has happened to others, some say its the extra marker or whatever but it worked fine for me until I tried accessing the terminal in the hideout and that's when it starts causing me save issues. even if I then disable the mod it seems it corrupted it somehow? don't know.Kind of sad, I picked this player shelter specifically because it had high rating and seemed self-contained yet was early on in the game, but like many older game mods on here its been left broken and who knows if they work or not. There really need to be a review of mods to see which still function and have a warning for older ones that can cause issues. Right now modding situation on here is a clusterf!Dozens of different mod managers and ways to install the same mods, some mods work on some version not others, brake on some game version or manager versions, tools and utilities that are either older, abandoned or forked, leaving you confused as to what to use in what order, load order is a broken mess already, we don't need modding programs and mod version order to be even more of a convoluted mess. I realize its a older game, but having never had a chance to play it I thought because its older the mods would be more stable condition by now because its been years since they were made so the broken ones should have been cleared or have a warning on them.
