Dragon Age Inquisition mods not working?

Dragon Age Inquisition mods not working? I am using Frosty Mod Manager and have the file path as F:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition which is where the game is installed but non of the mods I have imported and applied are working. Anyone have any idea on how I can get mods working?

A few things to check:

 

1. Are you 100% sure you're using the latest version of frosty? As of the 18th of September 2024 - the time this post was updated - the latest version of frosty is version 1.0.6.3, available here.

2. Did you make sure you launch with frosty every time you want to see your mods?

3. Have you ever used the dai mod manager before, aka the mod manager from the dai tools suite?

4. If using cosmetic mods, did you make sure your game has the correct graphics settings?

5. Are you inside a DLC area and loading .daimod files?

6. Did you make sure you both imported and applied the mods you want to see in game? (I know OP said they did but I'm adding this point as I link to this thread to people often.)

 

For #2, every time you want to see your mods in game, you should launch the game via the "launch" button in the top middle of the frosty mod manager. If you launch from anywhere but this button, your mods will not load.

 

For #3, if you've ever used the dai mod manager before, the merged mods folder for that mod manager can still remain even after repairing the game and this folder will override your frosty mods, causing them not to work. There is a solution, though - I'll spoiler it so it doesn't take up too much space:

 

 

start by finding the dai merged mods folder in your dragon age installation folder, OP's path will be F:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch_ModManagerMerge.
but for other users, these are the common paths for the game, depending on where you got the platform from:

for steam users: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch_ModManagerMerge.
for origin users: C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch_ModManagerMerge.
for EA desktop users - aka the EA beta app or gamepass (?): C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch_ModManagerMerge.

open this folder, and within it, you will find a file called package.mft.

 
open the package.mft file with notepad and make a mental note of the number written in that file, because this will be important later on. next, close the package.mft file, and delete the entire Patch_ModManagerMerge folder. now that folder is gone, but the frosty merged mods folder may still be trying to reference it, so I'd advise to also delete your frosty merged mods folder to stop this (we can get it back and it should work after that, don't worry, we just want to delete it once to get rid of the reference to the old dai mod manager folder, but after it's been deleted it shouldn't regenerate the reference to the old mod manager if you followed the steps correctly.)
 
so navigate to your ModData folder, which is the frosty merged mods folder, it should be directly inside your Dragon Age Inquisition folder, then delete that ModData folder too. don't remerge your frosty mods just yet - there's something else you may need to do first, because dai mod manager tricks the game into thinking it's a newer update and so it increases the update version of the game, and the game won't let you load saves you made whilst you were using dai mod manager after it's merged mods folders removal if you don't do this edit first.
 
so, navigate to the Patch folder in the Update folder of your Dragon Age Inquisition folder, find the package.mft file which determines the patch number of the game, open it with a text editor like notepad, and increase the number in it to the same number that was in the other package.mft file that I told you to remember, then save. Check if you can load your saves then, if you can't then keep increasing the patch number until you can. Then you are done.
 
For #4, if you are using 3d model edit mods, for example, mods that edit the proportions of an outfit, or haircut style replacers, or mods that remove aspects of an outfit or reshape a model in some way, you will need to go to optins > graphics on the menu, and where it says mesh quality, change this to ultra. You do NOT need to set the overall graphics quality of the entire game to ultra for 3d model edits to work, it's just that one specific setting that you need to change.
 
Additionally. if you are using retextures/image edits to the inquisitor's scars or freckles, you will also want to set the shader quality under options > graphics to ultra too for those to be visible.
 
For #5, mods originally designed for dai mod manager (i.e .daimod files) can have problems where they don't show up in dlc, that is normal, they do tend to show up fine in the main campaign/basegame storyline areas, though. So check if mods are working in the basegame areas. Frosty mods tend to work better in dlc but I mention .daimod files because you can load some of them (not all of them) with frosty mod manager. There is a fix mod for some dai mod manager hair mods not showing up in DLCs though, here.
 
For #6, you must make sure you apply all the mods you want to see in-game after you import them, there is a button for it, all mods you want to see in-game should appear in the "applied mods" list section the right of the mod manager, with checkmarks next to them.

I have this problem but I'm using DAI mod manager.

 

All mods worked well until I got the white screen glitch. I had to uninstall/remove all mods until I could save in Skyhold. Once there I saved and then reinstalled all mods. Now nothing is working.

 

I've tried patching, checking mods if I need additional files, etc. So far nothing is working.

i have done everything and its still not working, i would go to dai but it doesn't work for some reason. any other ways to get it to work?

Thanks for posting these tips.

 

For me the latest "EA App" is not supported by Frosty Mod Manager and shows a "waiting for platform" message.

 

You should stick with Origin client as long as possible.

If you get the "waiting for platform" message when platform launching is enabled for EA desktop in frosty mod manager, you can try disabling platform launching within frosty and instead either using the frosty fix program, or, you can use the data fix plugin from here, here are instructions for using the data fix plugin.

Doing the fix for #1 actually fixed it for me right away - thank you so much. Had to set it up to launch in EA desktop as opposed to Origin. Good looking out. ~

If you get stuck on a "waiting for platform" message after this, untick platform launching again, and either use the frosty fix program to solve this issue instead, or use the datapath fix plugin (intructions on using said plug-in here.)
