KetchupAddict123
So, I decided I will try out a few mods for FNV, and I unzipped them into the data folder like how you do with most games. But, the mods don't seem to be working. Do I have to activate them or is that a problem with the mods?
madmongo
It depends on the mod, but yes, most mods have to be activated. You can activate them from the startup menu from FNV by clicking on Data Files, but most people use some sort of mod manager. I use FOMM because I've used it for years and don't have any reason to change, but Vortex is the current recommendation. The mod manager will also handle archive invalidation, which is something you need to do in order to handle meshes and textures outside of the game's BSA files. The Data Files option from inside the game itself does not handle archive invalidation so a mod manager is strongly recommended. Some mods, like simple mesh and texture replacers, will not need to be activated in your mod manager, but won't show up in-game unless you have a mod manager that handles the archive invalidation.
