JuicyToots
I recently installed the fallout script extender and tried to run the program but it keeps popping up with the message that it needs to be in the same folder as fallout3.exe.
M48A5
My guess would be that you have Fallout 3 installed in "Program FIles" and your UAC is blocking FOSE. Is this the case?
Werne
I recently installed the fallout script extender and tried to run the program but it keeps popping up with the message that it needs to be in the same folder as fallout3.exe.Because it does, the fose_loader.exe, along with it's dlls and folders that reside in the same directory as fose_loader.exe, need to be in the same folder as Fallout3.exe otherwise it won't work at all. Basically, put it in the Fallout 3 install directory and make sure to launch it as an administrator if it's in Program Files. Default install directory for GFWL disc version: For 32-bit OS:C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\ For 64-bit OS:C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\ Steam FO3 distribution depends on where you have steam installed so I won't cover it. JuicyToots
It's all in the fallout 3 game folder, i did it exactly how the video said on youtube. I just tried running it as administrator but it came up with the same message. How to I upload a photo to this forum? I could take a screen shot to show what's going on. If you have Win7 and up (not sure about Vista, XP doesn't have UAC), reinstall FO3 outside of the Program Files folder. By the way, posting your OS would be nice too. Werne
I am using windows 8Hmm, Windows 8 is still a newcomer when it comes to Windows operating systems so troubleshooting is a bit problematic. Anyway, take a screenshot of your Fallout 3 directory and post it. Also, check Fallout 3 version (make sure it's 1.7), if it's a localized version post which (Polish, Russian, Italian, Czech, etc.) and finally, disable GFWL with this to make sure xlive.dll is not causing the issue. What you can try too is running FOSE directly from it's directory rather than through a shortcut/mod manager, just open the FO3 directory and run fose_loader.exe. M48A5
JuicyToots, Uninstall the game completely. After the uninstaller has finished running, look through your files and delete anything that has any reference to Fallout3. Reinstall the game and during installation you will come to a window that will ask if you want a default installation or custom installation. Choose custom. A box will open asking where you want the game installed. This is where you make your choice for the game location. I used "C:/Bethesda Softworks" . Some people use "C:/Games. Either will work. You just have to remember where you installed the game so you can do some manual installations. After this is done, go to the Bethesda nexus, http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/downloads/videos.html and navigate to "Updates", download and install the 1.7 patch. At this time you can install FOSE.
