Buza: a modified knorr with higher sides that eventually became used more as a cargo vessel than a warship.

 

A knorr is a longboat with a single, square rigged sail and oars - generally associated with vikings.

Barquentine- Three masted sailing ship with square sails on the Fore & Main masts with the remaining masts being fore and aft. It is an outgrowth of it's predecessor type the two masted Brigantine.

 

I can dredge up obscure ship types in my sleep.... :whistling:

I spent 18 months on a hermaphrodite brig with the RN - which when mentioned in conversation always raises the eyebrows of someone who has no idea what it means. I was once asked what I did to get thrown into jail with a bunch of hermaphrodites.

 

Hermaphrodite brig - a brigantine a two masted ship with a square rigged foremast and a fore/aft rig on the aft mast.
