Strokend
Two separate ideas I had that I figured would be simple enough, but one look at the creation kit and I can't even figure out how to get started on it, let alone add things in... CurfewSneaking around, picking locks and stealing items in cities is a lot easier at night time, when there are a lot fewer people wandering around to actually notice you; what if there was a curfew in effect from 9 PM to 8 AM to discourage the player from doing this so late at night? During this time, most areas of towns would be considered trespassing--porches could be owned by the person who owns that establishment and so guards won't bother if the owner permits the player there, and inn porches are always safe. Smaller alley-ways may be acceptable too--in Whiterun, there's the little room behind the guard at the entrance, and little nooks along the outer wall which could also be safe. Personally, I'd prefer that being declared Thane or other various titles don't actually let the player ignore curfew, but that wearing that hold's armor would. Launderers Unless I've missed something, the only ways to sell stolen goods are to get your Speech skill really high and get the relevant perk, or to join the Thieve's guild. Why not add some launderers to Skyrim? People who aren't part of the Thieve's guild, and have very little merchant cash, but sell simple things like clothing and jewelery or food, so the player can buy these clean goods and then sell the stolen goods, and then turn around and sell their clean goods to normal merchants.Could even have their locations marked with a shadowmark like this (The T in a diamond represents a Thieve's Guild fence, while circles represent people outside of the guild) so people can find them more easily. Strokend
I would like to clarify something about the Curfew: I want the gates to lock during night. Immersive City Gates just locks gates in general, regardless of the time. I'm not looking for a day-time lock, but maybe have the guards suggest taking a nap in the stables (optionally adding a usable haypile there to do so), or to persuade, intimidate, or bribe your way in. It would also be interesting if the gates could be lockpicked instead of needing a key, for players who either distract the guards or have the quick hands perk. Adding ways to sneak in--such as the river grate just to the right of Whiterun's entrance--would also be an interesting change. Maybe have it lead to an actual sewer like the Whiterun dungeon escape route uses, so the player might encounter random Skeevers, thieves, or murderers as they sneak in that way. Obviously towns that don't have gates, like Riverwood or Falkreach, wouldn't be able to be locked up, but guards near the walls could warn the player to either hurry to the inn or pitch a tent to sleep for the night. Riverwood doesn't have any guards to start off with, so until Balgruuf sends them, the player could safely wander about that town at night (regular citizens shouldn't care that you're out at night, it's not their job to enforce any curfew).
