Remove NPC command via console?

I played Oblivion vanilla so decided with F3 I would allow myself a couple of little extras. The main one being resurrecting Dogmeat after he died for the fifth time =)

So I did and it worked and I made him invincible - the only problem being - I did it twice, maybe three times (you know - mind is mushy *did that work* *oh noes it didn't lets do it again!*

So now this gaming girl has 3, yes 3 Dogmeats and while thats lovely and I adore doggies - I can't frikken move.

I used:

"player.placeatme 0006a772 "

Target DM and type disable

"player.placeatme 0006a772 1"

"setessential 0006a772 1"

I wish to keel the three Dogmeats I have and spawn a new fella, while straight, to ensure I don't have a buggy doggy. Is there a console command to achieve this and if so please share with me! Thanking you in advance :D

You need to setessential 0006a772 0 to make the dog killable.

I think if you open console and click on the dog then type kill that should do it.

Someone else might be able to corroborate.

Before you can kill the copies you have to set the base type to non-essential again. So my guess on the steps would be:

"setessential 6a772 0"

then target each one in the console and

"kill"

now to get the original dog back:

"prid 6a775"

"moveto player"

"disable"

"enable"

"resurrect"

"setessential 6a772 1"

"resetquest 943ed"

This is all guesswork on my part, but it seems like it should work. Good luck.

  • 3 years later...

I've got the same deal going on with Charon but I'm not sure what you mean by: "then target each one in the console and "kill" can you give me the excact code?

His base id is: 000156f6

would I type

"000156f6 kill"

Thanks for the feed back I'm going to go try right now!

Very important rule - never use the "placeatme" command. Then you might ask...then what the hell is that command doing there anyway? Good question...no idea..

all I know is that Bethesda themselves warn that it causes savegame bloating and that the object in question is continuously duplicated - which explains why you now have

three adorable canine friends...the more the merrier. In my case it was pure luck, as a begginer years ago I came across the moveto and the placeatme, decided on moveto and that's always worked fine.

The problem you mention is actually in the savegame, my belief, and savegames, also my belief, can't be repaired. Resurrecting is no probs otherwise...prid and enable only necessary if the npc has

left the gameworld and you want his/her ai to resurrect too.
