Weapon jamming chances

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to set a weapon jam animation to play every set amount of times? For example, the weapon will jam after firing the gun exactly 5 times? Or is it stuck in a chance based setting?

My ultimate goal is to completely change how the gauss rifle functions. I want to create new ammo for it (2mm EC) but still want it to use microfusion cells. How I would go about this is will be kinda out of the box. By changing the jamming animation for the gauss rifle to make the player character take out the right side magazine that in the base game is suppose to be the unlimited supply of 2mm EC ammo. It will be a weird but creative way to make the gauss rifle seem to reload the magazine of 2mm ECs but technically its just the jamming animation.

Furthermore, I'd change the ammo to 2mm EC and the regular reload animation is the same as vanilla. However, while the rifle would use 2mm EC now, I'd apply a script to make 1 microfusion cell remove from the inventory with every shot. So the gun would theoretically use 2 ammunition types, and it will keep the vanilla reload animation of taking out the microfusion cell thing but techincally its using 2mm EC.

Of course, this is all dependent on if this jamming animation can be set to happen a specific amount of times instead of a random chance.

Also, it will keep the gauss rifle an energy weapon. I know many would rather it be under the guns skill like in the older games but 2mm EC is already a hybrid ammo type anyway imo.

Creative!

I don't have an answer as to whether it's possible to make a regular jam interval, but do you know if it's possible to just make the gun jam on every shot?

The reason I ask is because your design would be simpler to just have the "jam" animation be the MFC swap. The Remove MFC Onfire script would work just the same, and it also means reloading or Ammo swapping would replace the 2mm EC magazine instead of the MFC cell.

That's actually a better idea yeah. I'll have to look into it some more. It always bothered me how the gauss rifle functions but at the same time it's one of my favorite weapons. Unfortunately from what I've seen animation and mesh changing is a headache so I would probably not survive doing it myself. But if anyone is interested in making this I can help anyway I can!
