ok with that out of the way....

my issue is this...

as you can see i have quite a large number of mods active (though not nearly as large as my skyrim which ironically works perfect -_-)

sooo at first i was freezing left and right at the beginning where you choose your race, sex, etc

so i'm like ok... i'll just disable all my mods still i get to where i need to escape

works fine for the most part.... jsut freezes once, which i'm still not sure why.... cause i just had the vanilla stuff ticked but anyway. everything is fine till i need to escape.

so i retick all my mods and boom. it starts to freeze again -_-

so i noticed the icheat mod had a desc that said wait 10 seconds after escaping the vault

so i unticked that

helped a little bit but the game still froze after about 5-10min instead of like 2-3

so i've no idea what i'm doing wrong if anything

so any help would be very appreciated

i'll try the merged patch route i guess see what that does if anything

i'll post the results after i do it

but till then HELP!!!!! lol

i gave up New Vegas for this very reason

i don't wanna have to give up 3 as well T_T

ok (SAMSUNG (1768x992@30Hz)) <-- that right there, is bad. fallout 3? ah, no way. too old to even know how to do that and those are not in the engine specs.

change the desktop rez to a more respectable old timer settings (60Hz). If there is a way to list the current machines listed graphics found AKA monitors ability and cards ability, we seek info on a common ground for fallout 3 engine.

 

freezing in the way you describe , is not mod related, it's load related. and the graphics set @ (30Hz) LOL will do that. I have an old gateway here, and fomm, of all things tries to set my cards settings to ridiculous settings the APU can not process, so you know where this is going.

 

you get a freeze, so hard, nothing responds at all right?

i NEVER would have thought of that T_T

i'll give it a shot

thankfully i have a couple spare monitors that are hella old and aren't even close to being HD lol

so ok, i'll try 1280x1024 and 60hz

and i have to task manager to close it cause alt tab doesn't work

so yeah freezes to a point i can't do a damn thing lol

i'll keep you posted on the results

 

btw, i didn't think it'd matter since new vegas ran jsut fine on HD (minus all the mod conflicts and CTD's and freezes >.<)

but then again... new vegas is much newer....

oh well lol

the PC and OS will force set the games graphics, most do not know this. If the hardware is out of range. You might see testing labs, where they test SLI cards, this information comes from that.

I've tried everything i can think of that would pertain to performance -_-

it just freezes *sigh*

it's gotta be a mod.

i can't think of anything else

tried high settings

tried ultra with no flltering and no AA

and this is all on 1024x768 game res

with monitor refresh @ 75

cant' go any higher than 75

so i'm stuck

any suggestions?

delete the ini files, run the launcher and allow it to make a fresh copy. reset the load order to just the main game files + dlc's , No mods. start a new game. But. before you do, make a backup folder for all your saved games now. move them into that folder. remove all possible old influences from established known game files. do NOT run any tools on the master files. Check and make sure, windows has not write protected any files in the games envelopes, these will be seen with gold locks on them, if so, you have a lot of work ahead to undo that. + shut off the security settings and reset the system to leave the files alone.

and see what happens. you need a new game. you need at least an hour in game and a clean save to check the mods you have against.

the purpose of deleting the ini files is...to reset the graphics settings for the game and windows backups will also get reset. With all new settings.

 

you have a graphic responant issue. It got worse when going up in Hz. 60Hz is dominant of the last ten years, set your screen rez to 60 Hz Not 75.

 

the launcher, pay attention to detail in it, it will show the monitors settings in the top box, it will show the graphics cards / desktop settings in the second box.

 

it will show the rz spec's 4:3 ratio, / wide screen . etc... you want 4:3 only for fallout 3 first. once you have a running game, these settings get written int o4 places. the ini file, Plugins.fo3viewsettings file, the system registry file and the saved game file. all matching and not in conflict with each other.

 

mod files can change settings on the fly, not rez, but contrast and such. modifiers. and these are subjected to rez settings.

 

you started out at 30Hz ! how the game even loads at that rez blows my mind.

 

so a clean slate is the only thing I can help you with. if needed.

i uninstalled ALL my mods. not unticked mind you TOTALLY removed

and i jsut left the Main +DLC

STILL freezes

i'm getting really annoyed cause everything i try doesn't work -_-

it's the steam version btw and it's installed to a slave drive if that makes any difference whatsoever

the game i mean

cause my main drive is very small (149gb) and my 2 slaves are 1tb each

so i install my games to the slaves to save room on my main

and i jsut install small stuff on the main

i've d/led and reinstalled like 3x today alone and i'm getting nowhere D:<
so i don't know WHAT the problem is if the game freezes with JUST Vanilla content

 

UPDATE:

turns 1 of my game files wasn't validated on steam

lets see if that fixes anything now that that's been remedied

tell me they are on 3.0....

I run my games on 2 books as well asa flash drive for inspections of mods, all on 3.0. 2.0 can kill the games. but 1 thing at a time here. lets figure out whats wrong first.

Standing by._______ If you wish, I can place this on hold and wait for you to validate everything you have till your all done, make sure there are no stones left unturned. the basics of fallout3 is whatI intended to set you up with and dealing with steam as well. but, I had no idea you were using a steam copy. that makes 5 places data is written to, 6 if you count the servers ping returns. Nuts !
