Oblivion REFUSES to start after using CS for first time to mod a few r

Hi, I'm looking for some help on this issue, I absolutely cannot figure out what's wrong although I assume its something to do with what I did in the CS.

I recently installed BP2chED (the really really big one) and realized it changed the eye .nifs. Plus, I couldn't get the hair I wanted from it on my male character. So I went into the CS and added what I wanted to those races (new eye textures that fit the mesh, and the hairs), and along the way added the tails from the Lycan race to my Wolf Elves, edited the default Dremora face, and removed a few races from being playable (I didn't want them there clogging up the race list). And now Oblivion won't start, it gets to the loading screen (I disabled the movies) and sticks. The loading bar moves maybe one pixel and thats it.

Halp.

That happened to me when I was trying to make a new mod and my .esp file corrupted upon exiting the Construction Set. You may have to try again with the original .esp. Make sure when you are done and exiting the CS that you allow it to fully exit on its own after you hit the "x." It gets hung up sometimes and takes awhile. Mine corrupted because I thought it was stuck and control-alt-deleted my way out of it.

Ahh, okay... so how do I fix that? Do I have to go back in and let it close normally or do I have to edit all the stuff again? (It took me about two hours to do so I'm hesitant to do it all over again :( )

Well in my case my file was totally corrupted and I had to delete it and start over. What I'd suggest first is just to disable that particular mod and try to start your game. If it comes up then you know it's that file.

Well, I had several mods active, though. But I'll try this and post my results.

EDIT: Success! It worked. And I've been able to do several more modifications of my Wolf Elf .esp and they've all worked as well. Just had to let it close down. :) Thank you!

I'm glad it worked for you. There's no better way to learn how to mod than to figure out what's messed up and how to fix it. ;)

Yep. If I figure out how to work it just a little better and learn how to texture/model I might even start making my own mods. I figured it was about time I stopped being a baby and took my first steps. ;)
