No savegame editors?

I used the "LevelCap30-40" mod, but got a crash trying to get to 21 and somehow got through that by deactivating everything. Don't really remember how I finally got it working. Now I get to 22 and still get the lockup. That mod's authors have since suggested a different way to do it, which I have tested with a really old savegame and it seems to work great. However nothing I do in my almost-22 savegame can avoid the lockup. I've tried lowering my karma, but anything I do to mess with my level or XP in the console still locks the game.

 

So the only thing I can think of doing as a _permanent_ solution is to edit the savegame to lower my karma and level and XP so that I'm just about to hit 20, and have the newer mod active. Sadly I can find no such editor. Is there one I'm missing? If not, why hasn't it been made? I'd think it'd be one of the first things done. :P

personally i'd suggest realism mod to counter the game being boring, and if beyond lvl 20 is the problem

 

just load the game in the working condition of the mod and just open up the console type

 

"player.setlevel X" replace X with number lower than 20

 

and then just play the game as usual :)

It locks when I hit enter. already tried that command. :)

 

After finishing the MQ in vanilla shortly after hitting 20 I started over again with mods to slow levelling and increase difficulty. There's so much to explore that I'd really like to keep advancing past 20. It is this 2nd character that is having the problem.

 

I think that was really short-sighted of Bethesda to hard lock a level cap of 20 while making the game so mod-able that people could build on it and expand the playing area to multiples of its current size. But what do I know.
