LordPariah
There are also evil spirits in the top floor of the Red Racer buildings, with the same whispering sounds as the Virulent Underchambers. But that's not because of any pre-war evil, but the Surgeon. Honestly it takes a LOT for the supernatural to puncture through into the material world of Fallout: psykers are vanishingly small. You can count the number of supernatural encounters (that aren't Easter eggs) in Fallout on one hand: the Master's psyckers, Anna Winslow's ghost, the Forecaster, The Dunwich quests and the Surgeon's lab. The Ghost of She thing is possible, but you're on drugs. That there is no supernatural activity at Germantown, the Divide, Vault 106 or Big Mountain, not even the Sierra Madre is astonishing. And the supernatural you can see, you can bludgeon to death and defeat.Hm, perhaps radiation prevents things like this then? Hm, Sierra madre isnt irradiated though.. Perhaps only psychopaths and trauma cause supernatural events? Not a lot of trauma happening at Sierra Madre, save for the trapped starlet. Even then, there was a channel for her anguish of some sort, a ghost for her, the hologram. Perhaps their trauma needs a way to dissipate through. charwo
It's not the radiation. It's just it seems there's not a lot to the supernatural, almost an annex to the material world. And believe me there was a LOT of suffering in all those places: It wasn't just Vera Keyes who died in the Sierra Madre: nearly every guest died horrifically in the days after the bombs fell. But even the freaky ghost people aren't really zombies....it's just the override harness feature in the suits, possibly with greater neural connectivity. That was the experiment in the experiment: cybernetic symbiosis. It is possible that the people of Point Lookout have some variant of the Innsmouth Look, but it could be the New Plague and inbreeding. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Pitt's trogs were Lovecraftian abominations, but there's zero evidence for it. And it's not all psychopaths. Caesar and raiders don't cause supernatural. I think the Surgeon was possessed. That or mildly indoctrinated by a Reaper like creature (Mass Effect). There does seem to be real stringent barriers preventing punctuation of the material world. Very, very strong ones.
