Deleted6735209User
So, I've been playing Fallout: New Vegas and I've noticed that the longer I play the larger my save files get, obviously. As my save files get larger, loading screens take longer when I load a save or enter a new cell. Once the save files reach a certain size (about 6 megabytes or larger) loading screens become VERY long or result in a CTD. This is very frustrating because I'm not even halfway through the game when my save files reach 6 megabytes and I can't do any of the DLC's or complete the main quest, for that matter. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Maybe a reduction of visual quality or a change in the Fallout.ini document? I play Fallout 3 which doesn't have as much content as New Vegas and is a smaller game but my current save for Fallout 3 is 12 megabytes and I have no issues. I've read that other people have the same issue and that the Fallout: New Vegas saving system is a bit buggy. Any advice would be appreciated. JimboUK
You could try this, make a back up of the saves first. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/49396//? You can get around those saves that take a year to load by loading an earlier save and then loading the later save in game.
Deleted6735209User
Thanks for the response. I've since deleted all of my saves and decided to start clean with less mods and a new save. If and when my saves get to a ridiculous point then I will try this tool and see if it helps.
