Help to change Skyrim Audio to English.

Well if that's the case then I dunno that when I try and install the game it starts downloading the whole content (which takes a couple of hours)... maybe some master files were changed and require a re-download? I don't know. But it certainly is not using my DVD.... :S It seems a waste of bandwidth and poor programming to first try online download and if not available you can manually tell steam to install from DVD instead. But perhaps that's just me. However in the guide you link from Bethesda it does say on multiple occassions that when installed from DVD the game has to be activated on Steam and all the required patches must be downloaded. It does not specify how big these files are...

...

Next time reinstalling Skyrim (if ever) I will certainly try to circumvent Steam, I'd love to know as well if this is actually possible. It feels weird to have physical media without the actual playable content on it. But I guess that's today's world full with DRM and whatnot.

I agree that the default behavior of automatically downloading is a waste of bandwidth and poor programming, but it seems that we're stuck with it.

As I pointed out to TonyTitan, please note that the Bethesda posts were written 11 November 2011, back when updates were expected, the DLC hadn't even been announced yet, and users could be expected to have to download bug fixes and DLC. There was no way to know at that time how big the downloadable files would be. And even if they updated the info today, they probably wouldn't include info like file sizes, because that info is subject to change.

If you do have to reinstall, I wish you luck with installing from the DVD. I only have the electronic version, so when I have to reinstall, all I can do is wait.

Now that the Legendary Edition is out, which AFAIK contains all of the DLCs and the latest game files, users won't even have to download updates, 'cause there aren't any.

and

Regardless of region, an official DVD contains the game files.

This (he says through gritted teeth) is wrong! Here in Spain. . . for the PC version. . . You get;

ONE disk!

and an invitatation to download over 9 Gig of updates, patches and DLC's. I've visited 3 different stores in the last few hours. None of them had heard of a 2 disk [PC] set. No-one in the stores, (as I got disscussions going with customers joining in) had seen this fabled multi language european edition. A closer look at Amazon etc. and googling variations of 'the elder scrolls v skyrim legendary pc- Box contents' and no-one seems to be prepared to say what is in the box (or show pictures of its contents).

Naturally Bethsoft haven't responded the email I sent (outfits like that never do) So thats me, I guess I'll just phone someone up in the UK and ask them to D/L me some hooky pirate onto a 32G micro SD card and post it me. Because my money is no good to Bethesda who are apparently too concerned with piracy to make it posible for me to buy it. . .

So Hasta Luego caballeros, and thanks for your efforts and advice (even the wrong advice) .

I didn't read the whole answers, but there are alot of Language Packs around in the Internet.

I also just illegally downloaded Skyrim, like Dawnguard / Hearthfire / Dragonborn DLCs or any Patch and my main Skyrim was English, so I searched for a German Language pack. The files are -> Data\Skyrim - Voices.esm and Skyrim - VoicesEXTRA or something ...

I have never been into Steam at any point lol, check if you can get a Language Pack. It should be around 1,2 GB

We don't support piracy here. I am going to have to show you the door. Steam is required for the activation of this game and your confession has sealed your fate. Banned.~Lisnpuppy

Okay, who summoned the Deadric? Anyone else notice it was no more help than Mr OnlyHereForOneDownload (who might have been too dim to actually read the thread or understand the terms and conditions here) before chipping in? Nevertheless the pirate was at least trying to help.

Unlike Jyggalag, sorry Lisnpuppy (confused for a moment there) who turns up, smites some sucker and sods off back to its plain of oblivion having contributed sweet fanny adams.

Yea, thanks for that Goddess Of Nexus, cheers, big help. . .

The ban is for piracy, and only piracy - whether he was trying to help or not is not relevant. He was not 'just' giving illegal advice ( Advising people to steal a DLC is supporting piracy)

It is NOT the moderators job to help - especially when the help involves pirating DLCs. It IS the moderators job to ban pirates - and that goes for those who support piracy and pirates, in any way.

Obviously you have to ban him as he admited illegally downloading files. Which is contrary to the terms and conditions of the site and yes, I can see that a moderators role requires they uphold the TOC. Among other things, I assume, like promoting the site, as well as ensuring the safety it's members or visitors. The last being sufficient cause to act against our rather dim pirate.

But as for "giving illegal advice ( Advising people to steal a DLC is supporting piracy)" could be wrong here but I'm fairly sure you are mistaken in that, and I'm not even sure it is possible to give 'illegal' advice. Hate crime and some forms of cyber-bullying ( Which of course is is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner) I think may come the closest.

However, unless you have had Nexus's Terms and Conditions passed through Congress (assuming we are in a US registered site on American servers) then advising people to steal intelectual property is no more against the law than advising people in Arizona to not carry their identification papers, for example. .

I find it helps to try be clear about these things, a bit like the jurisprudence fetishist,

He got off on a technicality.

You cannot install the game without steam, so you must have an internet connection that is able to draw ~5GB of data (without DLCs) or about ~8GB of data (with DLCs) from internet, or you simply cannot play this game.

There is no way around that the core game files are not included on the installation DVD they must be downloaded after registration on Steam.

And yea, sure, you aren't alone. But really. This is the only way. This whole "online only" thing is done to counter piracy, which in all honesty is the fault of the people doing piracy in the first place. So if you download illegal software you have only yourself to blame for companies protecting their assets with meassures like Steam or other online validation technologies. Some (actually quite a lot) of games cannot even be played offline anymore as the whole game itself runs on a server and you only install a client to connect to the server (eg. Diablo 3). So when that company decides the game is over and takes the server offline - you just cannot play the game at all anymore. You simply purchase a license to play on the server, and you dont actually buy the game.

when you´ve already bought skyrim when it came out for ps3...and then the legendary edition also for ps3...and then the special edition for ps4 and you just don´t want to buy the same game a fourth time... xDDDDDDDDDD
