My game will play for about five min then minimize to the bottom of my computer I can reopen it but the same thing will happen in another five to three mint.

I've looked up fixes for CTD because that's what I think is happing. but nothing has worked so far. I have all 3 DLC loaded and only their patches, no other mods, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and erased all...ALL my save files (so sad so many hours gone) any way. I use NMM and BOSS. along with all that I have 6gb of ram and cpu looks fine

...in other words im lost and would love some help. is it CTD?

That's interesting. You're having a CTD that is simply minimizing your game....not actually crashing it out.

To me that sounds like you have some other process running in your background that is overtaking Skyrim....thus causing it to minimize down to your task bar.

Try closing out all running processes before you start playing and see if that doesn't stop this from happening. Do the Ctrl+Alt+Del, start Task Manager, then close any running processes that are listed with the user account name. Don't kill any that are listed as "System" or "Network".......And don't kill the Explorer or Steam process either, as you always need those to play.

It's related to a program running in the background...

goto Start -> Run (or Search in Win V/7) and type: msconfig

On the tab "Startup" disable anything you do not need or that you can manually start when needed (any kind of Phone application, Adobe crap, Java crap, etc). When you dont know what something is, use google to check what it is before you disable it!!

Reboot the system

Check again.

That worked! I played for an hour so far and nothing bad ( nock on wood :) it was something that i didn't even know was running. Thank you so much! To evey one! I'm off to get lost in the world of skyrim once more. And thanks for the walk through prod80 and tonytitan! I'm new to pc gaming and would have never figured it out on my own.
