CS, Oblivion Data Folder and Nexus Mod Manager

Recommended Posts

So, apparently, I have two separate data files that go with Oblivion with the Construction Set. Do I delete one of them or don't delete them at all since I might have an error?

I know that Nexus Mod Manager only detects mods and their files. But what about the Oblivion data folder? I'm making a mod out of the Construction Set and I have no idea what file or file(s) where it supposed to go.

When I looked at the Nexus Mod manager file, there was no new files/mods that were in the file. But when I checked the Oblivion data folder, all of the new files were there.

Sounds like you have installed Oblivion to 'Program Files'. Uninstall Oblivion and re-install to somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion -- the extra folder is a virtual store that Windows creates for data that gets written to the protected 'Program Files' folder structure.

Then I think I misunderstood your question. Can you clarify exactly what the problem is? You talk about data 'files' and having two? Remember a 'file' is not a 'folder', and a 'folder' is not a 'file'.

Okay, so in the Nexus Mod Manager file and the Oblivion data file has different mod files but a bit similar. The Oblivion data file has the recently mods while the Nexus Mod Manager doesn't. Like say an example:

In the Oblivion Data "file" or folder has LanchanceVS BDBS comp.esp Voices.bsa and esp while the Nexus Mod manager has the rar. of Lucien Lanchance AliveV3 file.

Ok, I am still confused. I assume that English is not your first language, so I will take a guess at what I *think* you are saying:

Nexus Mod Manager is a mod installer. The data files needed for the game to work, and for your mod to work, do not go into the Nexus Mod Manager folder. The Nexus Mod Manager folder is for placing completed mods (archives etc.), so that they can be categorised easily and installed easily.

The Oblivion Data folder is where all of the files for your mod that you are working on, and those you have installed, go. Place all of your mesh and textures folders into the Oblivion\Data\ folder. This is where the Construction Set will save your mod .esp to.

So apparently I messed up on my Oblivion.ini, and it kept going back to my desktop well black screen first then that. Anyways I had to delete the Oblivion.ini and Construction Set.ini. I was thinking that I might replace them. So I uninstalled them and now reinstalling them. I also get these random black screen when I look down or a specific cell or something. But it hasn't been doing that lately.

P.S Oh wow, now I really messed it up. I had to fix the registry errors and defrag all of my files. I don't know if that will work, because I tried to uninstall it and re-installing it during when it went to a Battle song mp3 it stopped and error.
