Thor.
For 600$ okay, but why not try to save money in the process, money doesn't always equal a better card  Unless he wants a titan. 3 way sli may go for 800$ depending what cards he wants. Roguespear
The nVidia Titan is the fastest single gpu card on the planet right now for gaming, only problem is it is 1000.00 us . but the gtx 780 is called Titan junior, and it is around 650.00 us. Comes with the new wizbang cooler on the titan and it is very quiet and really cool. The cooler was designed to fit in sff cases, so in a normal case, it would be the bomb. Aegrus
In short, a 7950 and 660 are neck and neck. The 660 performs better in some games, the 7950 better in others. Battlefield 3: The 660 TI wins almost every benchmark for BF3.http://us.hardware.info/reviews/4002/3/amd-radeon-hd-7950-boost-vs-nvidia-geforce-gtx-660-ti-frametimes-review-battlefield-3 Max Payne 3: Trade offs. http://us.hardware.info/reviews/4002/6/amd-radeon-hd-7950-boost-vs-nvidia-geforce-gtx-660-ti-frametimes-review-max-payne-3 Hitman Absolution: The 7950 wins almost every benchmark here. http://us.hardware.info/reviews/4002/5/amd-radeon-hd-7950-boost-vs-nvidia-geforce-gtx-660-ti-frametimes-review-hitman-absolution This is the cheapest 7950 I could find. It is $220. It is a 3 GB card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026 This is the cheapest 660 TI, a 3 GB card. It out performs the regular 7950, but costs $30 more. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121767

That was a 7950 Boost, which is significantly faster than stock and costs more than a 660 TI.In addition, the 7950 spiked higher and ran lower, with less framerate consistency in milliseconds. Lower milliseconds = better. The 660 TI actually traded blows in that benchmark with a 7950 Boost.

D: Erm, well, I suppose that means the 660 TI is just flat out the better choice, then, considering it has on average the same performance as a 7950 boost, but also costs $50 less and can of course run Phys X effects whereas an AMD card can't. Keep in mind that, for all these benchmarks, Nvidia's comparable performance for the price is often achieved while it's running phys-x, whereas most users will lose even more fps than the benchmarks suggest with an AMD card, since their CPU (which is often not as good as the i7's that the benchmarks use) will be choked by Phys-x. Rennn
Moving back towards the topic, I don't believe most kinds of 660 actually support tri-SLI, and even if they did, it would be a bad idea. Putting 2 660s in SLI would be quite a good decision, imo. You'd easily be outperforming most single cards for a lower price. The tradeoff is that a few certain games don't like SLI very much, so you might be forced to use a single card in those.
