Jinn-Roh
I DO burn cd's. But thats only because im too poor to buy my own. And besides, the whole video game piracy thing could get bill gates to jump in and say "This is taking money out of my pocket!" or something stupid like that. But hey. Its just like downloading music. I've bought more cd's because i've downloaded a few songs. so you never know. maybe burning a few games will cause people to buy more software from a developer that makes kickass games. Who knows? Im not saying its good and im not saying its bad. All im saying is it has its pros and cons.
SothThe69th
When you share your car, your friend doesn't get his own car (which is an exact duplicate of yours.) when you get yours back. Just wanted to clear that up.
miltonic
Dark One is right. When you buy software, you are buying the "right to use it", you are not buying the right to "own it". For that reason, you can not share something that you do not own. If your friend wants to play the game, the legal recourse is to purchase it, meaning he is purchasing the right to use it, not own it.Hopefully that makes sense, to yuse guys B)
Jinn-Roh
It makes a lot of sense. I dont own a single burned computer game, and i never will. Id rather either pay or not have it. Its that simple. If you dont pay for it, you are missing out on a lot of stuff(ex. the map, instructions, CS). I try not to buy used games either for fear of the book not being in there. But lets end this discussion here. Alright?
AncientOne
Now, I have this Friend, let's just call him AncientOne for now, wait, that's me. Ok, We'll call him AncientTwo. Anyway, this friend managed to download a pirated copy of Morrowind and played it a little bit when he was at College. But when the game kept Crashing to the Desktop, the hack that he was using to play the game wouldn't allow him to download the precious patches. So, I ... er ... this friend went to find the game in stores, since it was such a great game, HE, not me, just had to buy it. But when he got to the stores, they were all sold out. There wasn't a place that this wonderful game could be found. So AncientTwo went to Amazon.com and ordered the game. The game came and AncientTwo lived happily ever after, playing Morrowind into the long hours of the night. I know AncientTwo very well and I know that he would never buy a game without first being able to play it or a demo, and since there was no demo out, and AncientTwo did not know anyone with the game, he was left with no other option. (granted, he could have just bought the game since he had already loved Arena and Daggerfall, but other game manufacturers have made games that were horrible after having already released a couple of great games) That is my story of how I ... I mean to say, AncientTwo acquired the game of Morrowind. -AncientOne
miltonic
By the way, I saw that Jinn Roh movie a few months ago. It was really good.
Rune
I'm against all piracy. I don't download music off the internet and I buy all of my games. I feel this way because I plan to get into the computer gaming business when I get out of college... and it's bad for profits when people steal your creations. Why bother making great games if everyone just downloads them for free? You're friend can obtain a copy of Morrowind, many online stores have them. Morrowind is too great a game to steal. miltonic
Ironic that your Friend AncientTwo went through the same thing I..., I mean my friend Mr Magoo went through. Good things our friends are brilliant consumers.
Blastoise
I see it this way.The develop gets $1 per game, while the publisher gets the other $49. Its unfair, but gaming piracy will only make the developer suffer, music piracy is a different issue, however...I DON'T USE KAZAA JUST IN CASE THE RIAA IS WATCHING
Jinn-Roh
I dont download music anymore. I stopped before they said it was illegal too, so booya. i dont have much music on my comp either. and i dont have a burner on this one either, so there. Besides. i agree with AncientOne...i mean AncientTwo. developers do make good games and then come out with some pretty sh*tty ones. I dont dl games though. I've got dial-up....and i dont know where to find them anyway. But it really is a good idea to play a demo first.
