script extender being a brat

You need to go back to the download page and read the part "Installation" or read the ReadMe that came with the download. It will explain how to install the file. It will not show up in the plugins or data files. It is not a mod.

I've tried following the instructions except that I think it has something to do with the files it wants me to download, it suggests .exe files but only has .7z, at least that's what I think either that or my computer hates me take your pick you're just as likely either way.

This is a question that must be asked, does the script extender not work on windows 8? I ask this because this wouldn't be the first time that a game has screwed me over be because I'm on a newer OS and I figure that it extends to the modding community as well, and the tutorial videos I've seen have been on windows 7 even when I type 8 into the search.

So long as you have the proper C++ libraries (and you should if you're running windows 8) then NVSE will work. You just need to follow the installation instructions, putting the contents of the zip file into your Fallout New Vegas root directory, NOT the data folder like other mods.

There is zero difference between 7 and 8 as far as programs are concerned. I've been using NVSE in Windows 8 since February of last year, and it works fine.
