Furi0usGeorgeX
I was wondering if it was possible to use the files for a mod in Oblivion to make another mod in Skyrim.I'm trying to get Altair's gear from Assassin's Creed, which is in this mod: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/19388/?tab=3&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fid%3D19388%26user%3D1&pUp=1 I have the mod installed and working successfully in Oblivion, and I wanted to have the same weapons and armor for use in Skyrim. But since I know nothing about modding, I'm completely lost at what to do. I've looked at the mod files, and all of the models use a .dds format, but everything I've found about modding uses .nif files to make weapons and armor. Can somebody please help me? Lisnpuppy
First...if this is for your own personal use that is fine. Otherwise the permission of the mod author would need to be gotten. If someone else were to do this for you they would also need the author's permission. Second...the nif is the mesh of the item, .dds is a texture file. If the mod only contains the .dds of the weapon it means the mesh is already there in the game. It may be a existing oblivion weapon so they only re-textured the weapon. Modding for Skyrim is completely different and making something fit from Oblivion to Skyrim isn't as easy as you may think. Hopefully someone can help you but remember that once completed you can not share this without permission nor are Oblivion assets allowed to be used in Skyrim. Good luck.
