XRaySpecks
As in the title, I've made the idiotic mistake of deleting my "Dragon Age" folder from 'my documents'. I was able to recover a number of .das, .das.met, .xml, what I believe is the appropriate screen.dds file for the character I'm concerned about. I've made a couple of attempts at recreating the folder hierarchy, but have yet to get the game to recognize my character. I have a boatload of .das and .das.met files, and was hoping someone here could provide some guidance. I've already completed my entire Origins play-through, and was a good few hours into Awakening. I'll be eternally grateful for any assistance attempted and/or provided. Thanks!
ThingTheWiz
Sorry if this is too basic a reply - have you emptied your wastebasket? If not, then simply open it up and undelete the folder....
Thandal
Vanilla (default) folder/file structure is as follows: "\<user's documents>\Bioware\Dragon Age\Characters" Within that folder, each individual character has own folder.(NOTE: It's possible to have multiple folders for the same "name", since a new one will be created for each import of a character into the next Campaign; DAA/GoA/WH. These are identified as "Name", "Name 1", "Name 2", etc.) So now we're at:"\<user's documents>\Bioware\Dragon Age\Characters\MyWarden" (Great name, huh? ;D ) At that level, there'll be the following files:MyWarden.jpg (paperdoll portrait)MyWarden.xml (?)MyWarden_portrait.png (for the on-screen UI and on-line portrait) plus... "\<user's documents>\Bioware\Dragon Age\Characters\MyWarden\Saves" Within "...\Saves", there's:"\AutoSave_1""\AutoSave_2""\AutoSave_3"..."\Quicksave_1""\Slot_1""\Slot_2""\Slot_3"... Within each of those folders are the following five files. (These are the actual "Saves"):MyWarden.jpg (paperdoll portrait with gear at time of save)MyWarden_Story.xml (biography entries)savegame.das (the GIANT file if you've been playing a while, with all of the plot flags and quest markers!)savegame.das.met (?)screen.dss (?) (NOTE: The date/time stamp on all five will be within a few seconds of each other.) So to put it all back together, the path for a "savegame.das" is:"\<user's documents>\Bioware\Dragon Age\Characters\MyWarden\Saves\Slot_[x]\savegame.das" Hope that helps! I know how frustrating it can be to lose your progress after all the hours you have put into it.
