Help with a simple mod

I feel like this should be simple, but I can't seem to get it to work how I would like it to, and was hoping someone could help. Let me explain what I'm doing:

I have several mods installed, but the only really relevant one for this topic is the Blindfolds of Skyrim mod.

What I'm trying to do in the Creation Kit is take one of those Blindfolds and make it into an actual piece of armor.

What I'd like to happen is this:

-Have it count as a helm, i.e. you can't equip both a normal helmet AND the blindfold.

-Have armor and weight.

-Be classified as light armor (so it can receive perk bonuses).

-Be craftable.

I've accomplished all of this EXCEPT the first one. Right now, I can't get it to be counted as your head piece without making your hair disappear. I did get it to count, but the hair disappeared, and that's clearly not what I'm after. Right now, if I use the default Biped assignment (from the Blindfolds mod) of 56, it will appear normally, without modifying the look of your character, but it also allows the wearing of other headpieces, which I don't want.

Advice?

I'm pretty sure that helmets, by default, cover the character's head, and as a result, the hair is removed. You could make it a circlet and not have the hair removed, but you'd probably be able to wear most helmets at the same time...

Or rather, check out how the TERA armors work. All those armors have an invisible hemet (for the purpose of armor bonus and perk stuff) but it doesn't remove the hair. I'm not 100% sure if actual hemets are removed when you equip the invisible one, but it might be worth looking into.
