Quick question about the history of Caeser's favor

So when I first started playing New Vegas on PC after it came out and the caesar's favor loot boxes would keep refilling every three days, even if I dropped to vilified reputation ( See here for a similiar example [https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Talk:Caesar%27s_Favor#The_Supply_Caches_continue_to_restock]). After a few playthroughs I took a break for a few years and came back to New Vegas and when I fired it up I got a screen for autoinstalling a patch and after that when reputation with the legion went below positive the boxes stopped refilling, which seems to be the norm.

So I'm just wondering when this changed and what patch changed it. Also, wondering if anyone has created a mod that converts it back to the original behavior.

What? Nothing else?

On the mod side, You can try YUP patch

If you dont want mod, you can try gameplay. Get to The Strip, Get to Lux 38, visit and talk with House once. When you get out, both NCR and Legion sent their emissary to meet you to invite you for a talk. Those two messengers will wipe NCR and LEgion reputation to Neutral right then and there. Then you can exchange ncr dogtag with Cottonwood Cove's Decanus Severus. That will raise legion rep points to when caesar favor appear. You dont need to go meet Caesar and NCR embassador right away

+++ Open console and type player.additem 00123054 999 to get 999 dogtag~

Mind you, CF is not that good. You need to fast travel to that corner of the world for every few days. and while the supply is plentiful, it's not that necessary. The most valueable would be legion denarius where you can make coin shots, best and most pricey shotgun ammo. But you can exchange for it in casino (caps to chips, then chips back to denarius).

Yeah, I never played with mods when I first picked up the game. Thanks for the suggestion on the Yup Patch. I'll see if that works.

As for gameplay fixes, I've tried several times. I usually do all the boone quests first to get his quests out of the way and go to the strip to get the karma reset from vulpes and then get idiolized. It works for getting the idolized reputation and the safehouse, but when I try to reset my karma to neutral or negative it stops refilling, which is why I asked if there was any way to reset to the original behavior where it would keep refilling even if you went negative.

And yeah,I know the loot isn't great, but it's more about the fact that I'm robbing the legion blind even while killing the s#*! out of them. Which is such a small thing that probably no one else still playing vegas probably cares about, but it just made it a little more fun for me.

Also, when getting the load order, I noticed a file named update.bsa.Any chance this is the update that changed the behavior of ceasar's favor?

Boone quest is actually the quest when you decide to finally go anti-Legion, especially after receiving Caesar's mark.

Why?

  • Because he has comment approriate for killing Caesar and assault the Fort.
  • He has comment on attack Nelson and rescue hostage. You dont want to do this early because you want to collect NCR soldier's dogtag.
  • He has comment on attacking Cottonwood Cove. You dont want to do this early because the NPC accepting dogtags here is the only source to raise legion rep limitlessly. Should be done RIGHT BEFORE assault the Fort.
  • Both of which are important locations to make Caesar go apeshit on you.

If you follow normal procedure and use him early, often, your road will become narrower. if you just pick him up and left him after Veronica or Cass, the road become noticeably larger, wider.

----------

On Caesar's favour, I am of two minds about that.

On the one hand, it's free bountiful loot.

On the other hand, it's clearly loots from legion raids across mojave.

I dont do business with raiders unless on gunpoint. So just last month I decide to off Caesar and eradicate the Fort before the 2nd Hoover Dam Battle.
