erikNORML
So this problem is a bit strange to me. Never experienced before.I downloaded Skyrim VR on steam recently and booted it up. Vanilla version was working fine. Then I wanted to mod it up so used Vortex and began installing a few of the common mods from Nexus. When I attempt to play, the game would crash, every single time, right at the moment you get off the wagon in Helgen (when dude says "the empire and their lists" or whatever). I tried so many things to get this to work, but crashed no matter what I tried. Then I opened the ini editor and noticed the file path...the ini file was moved like ten folders deep in a random folder that was for Nucleus COOP (something I had installed months ago to try on a totally different game). Skyrim would seem to look for the ini file where it should be, not find it, then crash. I deleted the Nucleus COOP folders entirely, uninstalled Skyrim, reinstalled, and booted it up on the vanilla version. Worked perfect. Finally got through the whole Helgen section and saved my game last night. Figured the problem was resolved so today I decided to mod it with vortex again. Boot it up, already notice something is wrong because my save game file isn't there - figure maybe a mod forced me to restart from the opening. I started the Helgen intro for the 8 millionth time and of course it goes back to crashing at the end of the wagon scene. I go into my files and vortex once again RECREATED THE WHOLE FOLDER TREE FOR NUCLEUS COOP and put the ini back in there causing all the crashing again. I dug through the settings i had for mod folders and what not on Vortex, not a single one mentions nucleus coop or that folder. Yet for some reason any time I use Vortex to mod Skyrim, it creates them, moves the ini file there, and goes back to crashing. Any idea why this would even be happening? Never had this issue with any other game. I have no idea why Vortex is connected to Nucleus COOP, no idea why it keeps trying to put my ini file there when I mod, no idea why that causes a CTD, or how to make it stop. Help!
