Mods for Mac

Sorry if this isn't the right spot to ask this question...

I'd really like to have a go at some of these mods, they sound fantastic... but I have a Mac.

I couldn't tell which if any mods were for Mac, it looks very much like they're Windows only.

So are there any mods for Mac, actual or planned, and if so how can I search for them on this site?

It's a fine place to ask, but AFAIK there has been no modding work at all for the Mac. No one has reported whether any aspect of existing mods -- ini files, upks, etc. can be used on Macs. X-Com is not set up to be modded, so it would take some investigation to find out what is possible.

Someone did reply that the strings in the Mac executable that disable the hash checks and make the DGC.ini load from the file can be found in the Mac version and work.

Presumably the part of the point of using the Unreal Engine was to allow for easier porting of the game to different platforms, so I'd think that the upk byte-codes would be the same on the Mac version as in the PC version (or the XBOX, PS3 or iOS versions for that matter). The difference would be in the different run-time engines for the different platforms that would then execute the UE bytecodes.

This means that any of the hex changes to upks (which is pretty much all we do) discovered for the PC should be applicable to any of the other platforms, Mac included.

All of the installers for the larger mods, and ToolBoks are all PC-specific, however. It might require the development of some new tools to ease access to mods for Mac users, but if you have a hex editor then you should be able to install these mods.

Oh, and the actionscript bytecodes should also be platform-agnostic, as Flash is pretty much independent of platforms (probably was a factor in it's incorporation into the UE3)

I have used the DGC.ini tweaks on my very old mac and randomly comparing the UPKs to my windows system I don't see any difference in the HEX code but I have not done a complete check.

I have even found a TEXT file in the sub-folder (mac apps are folders with an extension that tells the mac to run the executable placed inside and can have other support files included) you would expect to find the windows EXE that has the hashes of the UPKs but messing with that causes it not to launch on my Mac but my Mac is a 7 year old MacBook Pro with problems and is not ever rated to run X-com on the mac side so it could be something else that is breaking it but it runs fine on windows even on the old mac.
