XunAmarox
Nearly half are skimpy? Hah! I'd venture to say way more than that. More like 4/5th's are skimpy. Though, the custom armors for guys tend to involve their wangs hanging out in very awkward ways too...
Thoragoros
its all about eye candy.Strait Male players like looking at attractive female Player characters.the lack of male armour suggests that there are few gay male and many strait female modders.it would be interesting to to find out if this is true.is the elderscrolls series a mostly strait male pastime?also of interest might be the age groupings of players and modders.perhaps someone with more knowledge than i could set up a poll?something annoamous maybe. ozi Err...that maybe true in a lot of cases, but I think you are largely ignoring a few things when it comes to 'skimpy' armors. 1) Influence of JRPG. "Skimpy" armors are the norm in JRPG, where both male and female characters are highly sexualized as a show of their physical prowess, and many of the 'skimpy' armors we see here on the Nexus are directly influenced by JRPG armor sets. Terra Armors etc. 2) Red Sonja. Red Sonja has been making the "chain mail bikini' popular since 1973. She remains one of the most popular female characters among female comic readers, with her chain-mail bikini being one of the most popular costumes for female attendants at comic conventions. 3) Skyrim was heavily influenced by Conan the Barbarian. Let's face it, the Vanilla Skyrim Tsun Armor and Forsworn armor is basically a total ripoff of Conan the Barbarian. You might call those costumes skimpy, but they are ingrained in our fantasy ideal of the barbarian/viking/nordic warrior, and it shows even in the vanilla game. 4) Skyrim is an escape, and as such, it is just more pleasant - for most players regardless of gender - if your character exudes qualities that you find pleasing. In other words, you are living vicariously through your character. 5) Sexuality, and the qualities thereof, are different in men and women. There is something of a primal sexual quality in a dirty, hulking brute clad in armor. He is geared for war, he is strong, he is brutally masculine, and that makes him sexual, because he is exuding primal male qualities. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your mindset, the same cannot be said if that hulking, dirty, armor clad figure were a woman, because those simply aren't 'primal' female sexual qualities. Sexuality and sexual features are just different in and for men and women. Edited July 27, 2013 by Thoragoros
