Automation Tools for TES5Edit - Suggestions Thread

I don't know if someone has asked about this or not, there's a lot of posts to look through. It seems that a lot of the heavy lifting maybe done though so here it goes. with CCOR it seems you are generating recipes for crafting right? how hard would it be to implement the "Lorecraft" ( to these recipes and distribute the books? and just to push my luck maybe creating upgrade schematics that might make you better at tempering a specific item??

Sorry for posting this request on your mod site. I'm not trying to be pushy but comply with your request to use this forum for suggestions.

"Thanks for the update to correct the problem I was having with armor script.

Since you seem so willing to help, could you write a script so I can give a NPC the appearance of another NPC? I want to make one follower look like another follower while keeping all the attributes of the modified follower. Also, can you write a script to make a NPC into a preset?

I tried to use "NPC Appearance TES5Edit patcher by pieron" to make one follower look like another, but it did not work for that particular purpose.

Thanks for making TES5Edit so much easier to use. I use it virtually everyday and your merge script is just great---have created a dozen or more merged armor plugins with it."

Hi.

This can be done with existing scripts. In an NPC_ record you will see there are a certain number of subrecords, or elements. A lot of these handle the NPCs appearance, and a few manage the rest of their data. If you copy the ones that handle the NPC's appearance from one NPC to another using QuickChange's copy function, you will achieve your desired result.

Here's a list of the paths of the subrecords you'd want to copy:

RNAM

Head Parts

HCLF

ZNAM

NAM6

NAM7

DOFT

SOFT

QNAM

NAM9

NAMA

Tint Layers

You can view any NPC record in TES5Edit to see these subrecords and choose which ones you want to copy, but I'd recommend using QuickChange to just copy all of them.

(Sorry for bad english)

Mator, I know you have so many things in your plans, and I just can't wait to see them, specially the armor distributor script. And you've made such hard to belive things.
So, If you would like the idea and it is possible, please make a script for generating enchanted weapons/armor records. It could be like npc generator, so 2 txt files - one with suffixes and one with enchantments EditorIDs, but for selected records. It will make life so much easier and will add more features for those tons of weapon and enchantment mods.
And thank you for all you've done.

Alright, I'll add it to my to-do list.

Apologies if this is not the right thread to ask about Smashed Patch issues, but I'm not sure what better thread there is for it. I'm encountering a problem where the script keeps hanging at one specific step and I'm curious if it's a known issue or what. It's frozen three times on this one step of smashing a record in Guard Dialog Overhaul: http://i.imgur.com/CCuMioH.png

Apologies if you already mentioned GDO as incompatible in our previous conversation and I missed it. I'm not sure what's going on here, if there's any way to fix it, or if I just need to not include GDO.

eta: er, well, looking it over, this seems like a feature request thread, not a place for bug reports at all, so once again, sorry. If there's a better venue for asking about this, I'll use it instead of this thread.

It's alright, this is as good a place as any. It serves both as a "suggestions" thread and a "talk about scripts under development thread". So yes, it is a known issue. I don't know why smashed patches fail for certain record types, but they basically just hang indefinitely sometimes. I need to study the issue thoroughly to understand it and fix it, and I just haven't had the time yet.

All right, thanks for getting back to me. I'll just remove GDO from the smashing list and deal with it later.

Since this is a suggestion thread, I'll just say that I would be jazzed to hear about any update to Mator Smash because the abilty to automate the tedious general patch conflict resolution process is super appealing. The more records it can deal with the better! Especially if it eventually incorporates the bashed patch functions of absorbing tiny mods and combining leveled lists. Unless it does that already, I may have forgotten some of your description of what it currently does vs. what it will eventually do.

Yeah, it's on my to-do list (which is very large).

Absorbing tiny mods would be easy to do. Those "tiny mods" are probably mods with only override records. Those would be easy to absorb, for certain. Combining level lists... I'm pretty sure it already does that? I'm not sure what you mean by this. If you mean multiple overrides for the same leveled list being correctly handled, that's kind of the whole point of this type of patch.

I can't really give a better description of what I mean by that. Combining the leveled lists across different mods so that the game can use leveled items from all the mods (or something?!) is (I'm given to understand) the central feature of a bashed patch. But it's surprisingly hard to find a concise description of what a bashed patch is actually for! Everything just tells you how to make one, not much about why.
