Smithing Gone Horribly Wrong!

AlduinWorldEater

Recommended Posts

Okay, so, basically, any time I smith an item, it shoots my Smithing skill up by like 30 points. Within just 3 items, I'm able to craft all the Dragon and Daedric items I want.

Sounds like it'd be great, getting to skip the long, tedious grind of training...but I keep skipping lower levels, meaning that certain parts of Dawnguard start up within just a couple of hours of gameplay...of course, there's always the option of just not leveling up at all, and training up other skills in the mean time, but that means that when I finally do level up, my level will jump up that much higher.

I've already gone through all the mods that I suspected, mods that directly affect skills and gameplay, and even starting from clean saves, I still have this problem.

I can post my mod list if need be, I'd appreciate any help I can get!

Have you used the console at one point in your save game to level up smithing and you removed those levels again afterwards?

Do you use Skyrim Community Uncapper with a correct .ini file?

Does this same thing also happens on a completely new game?

If not, perhaps a modlist? (plugins/SKSE related files/Uncapper related files)

NOTE - I share a Steam account with my wife, so all inactive plugins are stuff she uses on her computer, and -shouldn't- have any effect at all on my own gameplay...I don't think...

Inactive plugin =/= inactive files when it comes with loose files they are STILL loaded by the game... so they can still cause issues.

You have a lot of plugins I don't know (most are in unrecognized list) and you also have a missing master (ApachiiHairFemale.esm)...

Cant pinpoint the problem... I would start by disabling all those unrecognized plugins and see if you can somehow manage to find the one causing issues. Also a clean save... what do you mean? Your current save after a "clean save procedure" or when you start a completely new game from scratch? There's no such things as a clean save in Skyrim ... your best bet is a new game for testing out the problem maker because it rules out save game corruption and during "testing stuff out" you don't have to be afraid you somehow manage to ruin your real game. Keep good backup's of your load order and files while going through your mods.

I downloaded the missing master file. Didn't fix anything at all, really, except for meeting Supermodel Skyrim's requirements, which still didn't work.

I did, however, run across a mod I had forgotten about. The "smelt back" mod affects the Smithing perk tree, so I'm pretty sure it affects the entire Smithing mechanic. I'm going to try a clean save without it and see how it works.
