Mods only working once.

Hello.I just recently got into Khajiit mods and the like and i got one that made Lydia a Khajiit,but when i installed it with NMM,it didnt work.I just deactivated it, started the game,waited until the save loaded,saw that the mod wasnt working to be sure it deactivated,the quit the game and activated the mod again.It worked,Lydia was a Khajiit. i go to play it again and she isnt Khajiit,I simply did the procedure again,it worked,i play again,it doesnt work.I dont know if it is NMM or the mod.l have had this happen before,but after reactivating the mod it works always,not only during a session of the game on at a time. Thanks and any help is Appreciated.
