getstage produces too high a number?

This is from my console:

sqo bos202

10 Meet with Elder Maxson COMPLETED

20 Board the vertibird gunship DORMANT

30 Kill the behemoth COMPLETED

40 Secure Fort strong COMPLETED

50 Secure fort strong armory DISPLAYED

60 Speak to Danse DORMANT

70 Speak to Maxson DORMANT

getstage bos202

75

Why is it at 75? 75 is invalid. It should say 50 as that is what's displayed. I'm trying to make it jump to 60 as 50 isn't working, I've killed everything.

I've had this before in a mod and thought it was a buggy mod, but I'm now getting the same thing with a standard BOS quest.

Your looking at the wiki for quest statges ?

Bos 202 does have a stage 75 "Show QT on last SM's" (aka show quest targets on last supermutants which is objective 40, but if they are all dead there are no markers)

Which is set by DefaultCounterAliasColIncOnDeath on quest alias BoS202SuperMutantsExteriorCollAlias

So its just wating for you to complete objective 50 which is quest stage 80. Because objectives DO NOT always line up with stages.

/actual facts

I was going by the numbers given by the command "sqo bos202".

So are there two sets of numbers? If there are, I'm completely confused.

What I need in situations like this is a list of stages, because that's what I'm about to advance to get past a bug. I thought I'd found a wonderful command in sqo, telling me what all the stages are. In vanilla quests, sure I can get the stage numbers off the internet, but for mods I often cannot, so I thought sqo would help me. I guess I just have to advance the number slowly and hope I don't cause a branch in the plot?

Actually, what about the command "showqueststages"? Would that have done what I expected?

SQT means Show Quest Target. It only works if the quest has a target (Quest >> Objectives tab >> Target Ref).

I'm not following you. I've never written a mod, only played the game, so I don't know all the technical terms. In my pipboy I have a list of quests from vanilla and mods. They all look the same in there, they're in the list on the left, and if I click one it tells me what needs to be done next on the right. They all have markers telling me where to go. They all respond when something happens, like I reach a building or kill an enemy or speak to an NPC. Yet some aren't in sqt. What's different about them? Is there something else that displays all the quests? I just need to find the name or ID of a quest so I can use the setstage command on it if it's stuck.

Quests can have Objectives (like "Talk to Preston Garvey"). If the currently displayed Objective has a quest target (which depends on the author), then you can use the SQT command to see the quest's name and EditorID.

If you click on an object or an NPC that's involved in the quest and type "SV", you may be able to see the quest that uses this object or NPC. "SV" is short for "Show Variables".

Thanks, I'll try that next time.

I thought all my quests had an target. If I click on a quest in the pipboy, the next thing to do is displayed on the right, are those not objectives which have targets? They always tell you to interact with an NPC/building/etc.

Nope, only some of them have.

Not exactly. They are only objectives. To determine whether a quest objective has a target or not >> click on a quest >> click on the "Show On Map" button >> now, if you're seeing a target marker which has the same name as the objective on your map, then the quest objective has a target.

I have mods where they've gone wrong at the end and are still directing me to do something even though I've finished. I would like to use the command completequest on them to clear up the pipboy list, but I need their name or RefID. Some of them do have a map marker, but do not show in sqt. It's like they only go in there if the mod author has designed it that way. Maybe some are written badly, I've seen descriptions where authors can't get quest markers to work at all. I'm guessing it's a complicated thing.
